Upcoming holy paladin changes 11.1

I havent seen comments on some of these changes. Not much but still want to comment on it.

Holy now gets Blessing of spellwarding which is a huge W

Lightforged Blessing is now healing 1% instead of 2%. It was already a dead talent and is now even more useless. Be so for real. If they dont want it to heal, than make it do more damage. Were literally sacrificing healing by using Shield of the Righteousness.

It says there is changes about sanctified wrath but I dont see a difference from its current description? can someone confirm? also, in its current state, the length of wings is not an issues, its the frequency. Damage patterns happen so close together. Its another reason avenging crusader is so useful currently.

A just reward healing more is actualyl pretty nice. Its often dispellable DoTs that do a significatn amount of damage so its nice saving a gcd. Hopefully the heal is meaningful enoough that their health allows for use to move our attention to heal others without too as much concern. Who knows though. Still nice.

Word of glory and flash reduced mana cost… decent. Nothing wrong but more is needed on mana issues.

Looks like ret now benefits from dawlights of suns avatar? odd, also the passive healing is very negitivly affecting holys healing profile. Trash hero talent even with the infinite throughput it gives for ~10 seconds

Hammer and anvil nerf. The issue is more so the rng nature of the healing. Sure its strong but not being able to control it makes it insanely unreliable and downright annoying. Perhaps hammer and annvil could be change so that it makes infusion proc the heal, if spent on judgment, rather than infusion making judgment apply a strong damage reduction thing it currently does

veneration healing was buffed. While conceptually this talent is nice, numerically its useless. Even buffed, the heal is gives is not worth holding the veneration proc to use at a meaningful time. There is almost never an amount of damage going out where I would think, “nice veneration has saved me at least one healing GCD, so I can stun/silence/do more dmg/literally anything else” its just too weak to make a change to the rotation in any way.

Unending light change is interesting. Sounds huge for raid but still useless in mythic plus.

lights conviction retuning mana on offensive holy shock is nice. Wonder if that will have a decent enough affect on our mana, specifically in m+

All the flash of light and holy light changes: great modifications to spells no one wants to cast. The damage profiles do not suit a casting playstyle. Even more so, single target casts that do so little. The only way holy light/flash of light should exist in the game is if they fill a specific niche

  • holy light should heal 50% of a players health. Its cast time is such a massive negative in addition to its single target. Lets say you see who a npc is targeting for a spell. perhaps the NPC is stunned, or silenced or you are on the global cooldown (or notice late because you are focused casting a heal on someone else). These are all reason that make precasting either, useless or unlikely to happen. Now lets say the player has a DoT. The time it takes to cast holy light means that can take an addition tick or two of damage, and with how strong DoT’s are, its almost always a net negitive to cast a HolyLight that doesnt crit. To make such a risky decision of casting a Holy Light should reward you with a heal that offsets those deficits.
  • Flash of light. Honestly there isnt really anywhere to go with this one because Holy Shock fills the niche of what flash should do. Shock has the range, instant cast and equivalent healing value. I suppose the only thing flash has is no cooldown. The only thing I can think of would be to make it cost no mana 100% of the time. Even then, it having a cast time, the existance of holy shock, and the number of other spells we need to be casting would make this almost never used. Theres really no reason for Flash of Light AND holy shock in todays day and age.

Overall I think we got a little benefit to our mana, and blessing of spell warding. Everything else is completely useless and doesnt help our class to be a reasonable pick (specifically in mythic plus, maybe raid its ok?) It absolutely doesnt fix any of the endless issues that currently exist and have been mentioned a million times in the recent posts about holy paladin

This change is for pvp only. IIRC it was listed under the pvp changes in the official blue post.

It looks like they just added/updated the prot version to give Judgment charge.

I don’t think the mana cost of WoG changed for us, although I could be wrong. I’m pretty sure it was increased for ret.

The Flash cost reduction is real. Flash is effectively a free heal now - its cost is probably net neutral.

The Veneration buff is applying the buff we got a couple of weeks ago. But you’re 100% right. Veneration only exists to help make what are 0 healing globals to do a little bit of healing. It’s probably nice on a rot fight, but those are pretty rare in m+.

Thanks for clarifying. Sounds like these changes are even more insulting and trash

There is not much to discusess that we haven’t discussed already in other threads.

We will have to wait and see what direction they are going for with the next set of changes (that’s a big if though, they could just call it a day here and I won’t be surprised)

With AC LS gone, all 3 versions of Hpal are more balanced. And by more balanced, I mean they are all mediocre, and this could leave room to buffs down the road (if changes dont come soon, then I’ll assume we will see buffs during/after raid) and if that doesn’t happen we will be screwed until 11.1.5 or for the rest of the season.

I’m also worried about where those hypothetical buffs can go instead of when to be honest. But I’m being pessimistic here will admit

With a bit of luck im wrong. Crossing my fingers

Yea I was corrected on my misunderstandings, thought there was more but I was wrong. Its not pessamistic, its realistic based on the history of how things have been over the last two years +

Another tricky part worth to mention
Veneration is actually not being buffed, it’s a reversion of previous nerf.
In the patch 11.0.7, the 25% damage boost buff we got for Hammer of Wrath was removed. Compensating for Vengeful Wrath, which in theory, a 17.5% damage boost for HoW on average.
Prior to 11.0.7 Veneration heals (1.25)2, which was 2.5.
Now is (1)
(2.25), which is yeah, 2.25.
with vengeful wrath, (1.175)*(2.25)=2.644, in this case, a 5% buff, but wasted 2 talent points in class tree.

Don’t pay too much attention on our patch notes, and don’t do the calculations. The only thing you get is disappointment :smiling_face_with_tear:

Hey Blizzard, see this person? he/she is the most optimistic person in the Paladin’s order. look what not listening have done.

Please let us be invited and enjoy the class that we have pushed for so long.

The current dev team has made it very apparent that they hate holy paladin. I wouldn’t get your hopes up on them listening.

For some reason it’s fine that my disc does more burst healing on half the cd my hpal does in m+ along with having two pain suppressions and huge power word shields while offering the same devo aura and aura mastery (lenience + barrier) that hpal gets frequently taxed for having. The only difference being devo aura affects an entire raid while lenience has variable uptime in the same environment.

Three pain suppressions, and we get a 2 minute sac, where we take the damage. Make it make sense

holy paladins getting no love what so ever. This sucks. finally found a class i love playing and this is what they do. Holy priest and other healing specs are getting upgrades and what we get, a pvp 5 min damage reduction? If this is true, I guess I wont invited into raids and m+. Its already so hard for us as it is. Had a freaking Monk healer out healing me and dpsing me, when I was 5 item levels above them, gear enchanted and all.
