I tried this on three seperate characters, opened a ticket about having it fixed. Customer Support tells me they can’t prove I didn’t get the xp and that they only saw me use it on two of my characters.
I had the exact same issue on 9/25/19. I submit a ticket and the reply from the GM suggested that a number of people are having the same problem but there was no further information given. I hope they fix this soon, I am afraid to waste the time the next time either of the follower xp items pop up.

Hey Auf, I finally got a response back. I originally got a very suspect (read: tone deaf) customer support response saying they couldn’t tell if my followers didn’t get the xp. When I reupped the ticket I got an actual better response and that the items would be returned to me, but not to use them until they are confirmed fixed by blizzard at their Hotfixes page:
So just keep an eye out, we might be waiting till next week before we can actually turn these in. I hope you ticket this and get the items back.

Thanks for the heads up, Seebach. I appreciate it. I haven’t been on the official forums for a while (almost since the site revamps years ago) and I don’t think I knew about the hotfixes pages. Maybe I will resubmit that ticket tomorrow before work.
Now if only I could get some information about the weird half a second skipping that happens when rares dies or when I turn in a quest.
Do you have all the things? if so it is for some reason actively checking loot drops for every kill and quest.
If not I’m not sure. I can tell you I turned off all my mods and it stopped skipping, but if this is without mods, I’m no help for you.
