Unsubbing because of the bot problem

I can’t stand trying to level in Feralas/Eastern Plaguelands etc and having 5 bots run past me with 20 in the air flying above me, not to mention the plague of level 60 bracket busters farming honor from them, also targetting surrounding levellers around them regardless of their level and pretty much griefing. The immersion is ruined, this is no longer a “classic” experience for me.

You’re probably going to catch flak for this post but honestly…I stand with you.

I cannot blame anyone for leaving the game after seeing the severity of the botting and the lack of action by Blizzard. Seeing 50+ bots fly above you in 1-2 minute can just destroy the motivation to play the game.

Lets hope they hire some people and underpay them as usual to handle the bot problem in future iterations of Vanilla WoW. Doubt it.

I just blew a game token I had to check out Classic again…

Yeah. NO! Not paying for this.

What is truly sad is that until 3 months ago we had zero bots detectable… Like legit none; they were all on retail or Wrath, but as Wrath died and players migrated back to Era the coiners came with and so did the bots.

As for Wrath, the bots are still a massive problem there and the wow token as i stated clearly months ago “will do nothing to harm the bots” and here we are wrath has a silly number of bots and token now.
TL;DR, Token is a scam, and in order to control bots you need weekly ban waves.

That sounds terrible! I wouldn’t play a game like that, either!

If I was seeing anything even remotely resembling what you guys seem to run into everywhere, I wouldn’t be playing this game either!

In wrath go outside botanica (funny that it has the word “bot” in it) in Wrath classic… Assuming you are on the same shard.
In Era go to lights hope chapel, strat undead, ZG, ZF or Diremaul East… Its insane how many bots there are.

Blame the guys paying thousands of dollars on raid loot which creates demand for the bots

Did the math on one of those items, guy paid 3500 bucks and change for some pixels in a game… (classic era)

My mind is blown…

Bots only exist because gold has value in GDKPs. Blizzard never intended for you to be able to buy loot for gold, otherwise all loot would be bind on equip. If there was a way to restrict trading gold for raid loot then we would see fewer bots.

i do blame them but let’s be real. these people are addicts. they cannot control themselves :expressionless: the solution is to help these people by cutting them off from their dangerous vice. we can’t just look the other way.

It’s relative, some starving kid in Haiti’s mind is blown that you waste $15 a month on pixels.

Good luck, wish you the best going forward.

If you get a WoW itch in the future give Turtle WoW a go; heard it has anti cheat tech and game masters that actually know how to do their jobs.

Nice try Shamoo.

no :turtle: talk allowed
git gone :expressionless:

Wish Blizz would go back to insta banning cheaters like they did in 2004-2005. Blizz, or atleast some employees, are complicit with the botting and would not be surprised if someone “on the inside” is profiting from lack of enforcement on the cheaters.

Also got to mention Bloodsail ruleset being successful in preventing botting. Perhaps 99% effective as a player enforced rule. No trading until 60 may have similar results. Or atleast Soul of Iron being an optional way for players to track if they traded.

Turtle WoW is equivalent to polishing a turd

Why are you on Classic forums then? lol

My exact theory, I’m almost positive Blizzard profits somehow off of these bots being in game, because there’s no legitimate way they would allow them to be a problem for so long and to such a number, whether they run them themselves or 3rd party somethings definitely up there. My question though, why couldn’t they just spawn the gold and be more lowkey about it? Because if it’s none of the above then they just flat out don’t care about their game and that’s pitiful to say the least.

Just speculating, not sure of any of this - but perhaps because it’s probably not a high up dev that has that level of access, maybe like a “mid level” person that controls enforcement or lack thereof. Or perahps even a GM “restoring” gold after someone’s account was “hacked”. etc. Maybe the person running the bot farming operation is also in charge of bot enforcement. IDK.

Keep in mind $100,000s+ are on the line here when in comes to dominating the gold buying market.
