Unstable Elemental Confluence - Too good for FOMO?

Heirloom trinkets, up until the pre-patch event at least, have been pretty “meh” at best.

However, this:

Is pretty dang good.

I really wish Blizzard would move away from FOMO tactics to keep people subbed to the game. People should want to play your game because it’s fun, not because they want to avoid missing out on a limited-time-only item.

Any chance this trinket can be obtained through a (fun) quest chain later on in DF, for those who join the game after the expansion launches?

I tried it on a training dummy and the trink doesn’t really proc often enough or last long enough to make it OP.

I’m seeing a different story as I’m leveling a couple alts to 60.

Tying new stuff to this boring event is pretty lame

How much of your damage while leveling does it end up being?

It’s not nearly as useful as I would expect.
The actual OP trinket is the currency one.

Unpopular opinion: Occasional FOMO items are good for the game. It motivates people to play and achieve short-term goals…and this item in particular is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

Sure, but only if there’s a definitive way to earn this stuff.

Hoping the stars align (right type of storm and getting it to drop) is just frustrating

Not true, the Touch of the Void trinket was pretty powerful for quite some time, until it was nerfed.

I’d be more open to FOMO tactics if they were cosmetic items, like a mount or transmog.

But only, when the items come back later in the cash shop or on a event rotation, otherwise it’s toxic game design.

This could be because they buffed looms as a whole. The max ilvl used to be 146, now it’s 183 so the base stats are higher.

In any case, mine proc’d every 30 secs or so of constant hitting and casting and lasts less than 5 secs.

I’m going to use it on my alts simply because it has a main stat and a damage proc however infrequent it procs. I personally love trinkets and spells with procs and was part of the reason I liked the BFA AZ traits. Seeing those procs go off made my class feel more like a fantasy class.

Child of Rezan sending a little raptor out to attack for my hunter and my mage or shaman with tidal surge shooting globs of water. It themed well with my toons and actually made me enjoy those classes even if those traits weren’t OP.

Fun > everything else in games for me.

To each their own.

Trinket is not even that great. Damage is low and so is the buff.

If that is the plan then it isn’t FOMO. Why should I focus on spending time to complete in-game goals when I can just buy it with real money in a few weeks?

Having rewards that are always available or purchasable with real money makes them inconsequential.

Because we want to reach every audience and not just the people who happen to have the time or motivation to play the game. It’s not up for us to decide if other are willing to spend money on it (cough, $3000), but the option should be there.

I would love to see Heirloom Relics for artifacts. I love Legion Artifscts but they lag behind if you don’t queue only for Legion dungeons.

It is literally their job to specifically engage the audience that has the time and motivation to play the game. Trying to reach people who don’t play the game is a wasted effort.

That’s not toxic game design. That’s you being toxic, because you missed out on stuff. Life is never fair little goblin, one day when you group up, you’ll understand that. Till that day though, “oh well”.

Training dummies are screwy sometimes.

It procs every 1-2 mobs leveling for me.
