How do we feel about this change?

Feral

  • Developers’ notes: We’re updating Unseen Predator to reward better Ferocious Bites more than frequent Ferocious Bites. Damage is reduced by 20% for each combo point short of 5, and multiplied by (Energy Spent - 25) / 25, so you get full value at 5 combo points and 50 Energy spent. Activations from Rank 3 and free Ferocious Bites from Apex Predator’s Craving or Convoke the Spirits deal full damage.

  • Unseen Predator Rank 1 gains “Unseen Attack damage is reduced if less than 5 combo points and 50 Energy are spent on Ferocious Bite.”

  • Unseen Predator Rank 2 has been updated – Unseen Attacks increase your damage done by 8%/15% for 1 second per combo point spent to trigger it. Additional applications extend this effect.

  • Unseen Predator Rank 3 has been updated – Tiger’s Fury causes you to perform an Unseen Attack for maximum damage after your next 2 combo point generating attacks. Rip and Unseen Attack damage increased by 30%.

  • Unseen Slash and Unseen Swipe base damage increased by 25%.”

I cant tell, there’s a lot to unpack we are actually rewarded for pooling energy to 50? maybe….

we will have to see where the numbers land, on paper this looks like a bite buff right?

Im not sure this will make the rotation feel better though? if we have to sit until 50 energy before biting it might feel good it might feel bad im not sure… it will likely matter how hard bite hits and if it feels worth it

I think it’s a good change.

It moves feral away from the more ret pally see light slam button playstyle. I like ret, but not everything needs to move in that direction.

iF IT ENDS UP Being a buff to bite while making pooling energy feel good im all for it, it was just buffs and nerfs so im not sure thats going to be the exact effect TBH

This is a good change. When the talent came out and it was shown that an optimized play style was biting at 4 and below 50cp seemed very counter to what the dev’s feral philosophy should be.

HONESTLY I DONT CARE ABOUT THE DEVS PHILOSOPHY THEIR TRACK RECORD IS NOT GOOD

bleeds need to deal good damage and Bite needs to hit hard enough to feel good when you use it… like that’s our entire class identity and both need to be true at the same time.;

this we either can have bleeds feel ok or bit feel ok is just a miss across the board they need to find a balance where both feel good to use… PERIOD anything short is a miss thjey have taken all the nuance out with snapshotting and a ton of fillers removed we have two finishing moves and both need to feel good to press

On paper for those of us who have muscle memory for pooling bites it will be a net buff.

For those who are either newer or figured out that more bites regardless of the damage loss (what little there is to lose) from pooling procced more Unseen Attacks (though I’m not sure if people ever thought that was actually a thing to begin with) it could be a nerf depending on gear level and how often they were able to bite. 25% I would think makes up for it, but I’m not the guy to dig into those numbers; I know Psybear has been talking about right now biting at 4 or 5 CP doesn’’t matter, (and it historically has in the past) so it could also be that concept they’re preventing as well.

I personally don’t really care for the unseen attacks, the entire concept seems lazy but free damage is free damage I guess.

Yeah, i Agree unseen attacks are a very lazy class feature to be our big final move….

literally 0 engagement with how we play its just a proc of damage on what we are already doing. and its only a chance for it. I am actually very tired of having all of our i engaging things being RNG.

The RNG in our spec can be make or break at times and has 0 to do with our ability or input. in a fight if I proc a ton of free bites its huge damage….. if i don’t its meh. If we are running panthers guile and we proc 5 CP a few time’s its huge damage if we don’t its meh, if i proc clearcasting a few times its a huge boon and when i don’t it sucks, if sudden ambush procs a few times its great if it doesn’t damage falls off, if i use bite three times and don’t proc an unseen attack our damage drops off hard.

some of these situations are not like super likely but they are a possibility and its not good. it creates a huge discrepancies between a top performance and bottom performance purely based on RNG

ATM we have 6 procs and its not good for deterministic gameplay

We don’t always grab everything but its like 4-5 in every spec i have seen and it leads us having huge disparity on pulls when we already have that with tigers fury timing we are super inconstant and can either top charts or struggle to keep up depending on things out of our control and that’s not good gameplay

The 5cp is fine, but energy pooling is boring and feels bad so, seems awful.

I find it funny they want you to pool energy while giving you an optional ability in the talent tree you can only use below a specific amount of energy. Chomp.

It’s a joke ability they never replaced with a real talent.
