Unpopular opinion. Pet battling in wow is more fun then Pokemon

Advantages it has over pokemon.

  1. Battles are faster. No having to wait almost a minute for the next turn.
  2. Systems are more simple. No needing to worry about getting pets with the best IVS, what tms you are going to need to give the pet, you can only have 3 pets out at once and man other things like this.
  3. You cannot catch legendaries. This keeps things from getting too easy and I besides. I always thought it was stupid that these godlike pokemon(some of which are sentient) could be caught and controlled by random 11 year olds.

Well, I’ve never done pokemon, so I can’t truly make an informed opinion. But I find WoW pet battles fast and fun, and make for a nice change of pace. Also, I love that we can make pets of the various critters in the world by battling and capturing them.

Middle of the ground opinion: pet battles are boring

Unpopular opinion: Pokemon is overrated

On the other hand, many of the pets you have to catch (as opposed to raid drops/etc) have different types that you need to worry about if you want to min/max them.

I enjoy it… It is more a feed into my collecting… Right now I’m seriously contemplating if the Flawless Baubleworm is worth the 10k coins.

I want a WoW pet mobile game so bad. They are all so cute!! It would be so cool to discover more pets outside of actual WoW that we could link to our battle net account and actually summon in the game too. :relaxed:

I play Pokémon go still when I’m out and about but I would rather play a WoW pet game like that.

Imagine finding a super cute murloc you could cage outside your house lol.

Still working on that one. I got all the others but 10k charms takes a while.

I mean, that’s not unpopular. It’s factually wrong, but ok.

Not really. I mean, sure pet battles are sort of simple on the surface. But their META is painful to figure out and it is tedious work if you are not dropping thousands of gold on them. Not to mention that the way to “enjoy” pet battles is to have very specific cheese teams.

Pet battling is great overall! I want more pet battle dungeons!

I think the pet battle system is far too “rock-paper-scissors” to be very interesting.

I can see where some people would think that - for me, pet battles are the only reason I’m still playing WOW.

And you didn’t even offer it to me first?

Ssssh op. Fun detected leads to other things. bad things.

Like you will ahve to buy another version of the game. to run all the battles lol.

That pokeman franchise irks me for this. Really? Gonna make the same game twice. charge full price for both. How do you sleep at night?

They go Quite well…do you know how much money that makes us.? and more than 50% is copy pasta work. so real cheap to make.

opinion: wow is just copying pokemon and will never be better than pokemon

Quite well I am assuming since all that money from suckers who buy both ends up paying for their multimilliondollar mansions with triple k beds.

Pokemon has been more fun for me :man_shrugging:
What Blizzard did is a lame attempt for more pseudo content to keep you busy in their theme park.

the only thing i like about pokemon now a days is that they have those rares where it’s like the same pokemon but a different color variant. i forgot what they were called already. “shinies” is what they are called.

other then that yea i mean pokemon imo is just too idk… too much min maxing for my taste. i watched a tournament once long ago and the 2 people at the finals basically had the exact same setup they only had maybe 2 pokemon that were different everything else was entirely the same.

Some of this is false.

WoW pets (world ones anyway) do have variants similar to IV’s but are at least fixed. For example, you could get 2 blue quality rabbits where one has an extra bonus to speed at the cost of some HP or something.

Pokemon is certainly far more advanced overall, but top tier pet battles still have a lot of cheesy comps…same reason why a casual pleb who beat the elite 4/champion is in no way prepared to step up to even low intermediate players.
