I haven’t done any raids at level this expac so I am not sure exactly what it looks like right now. In the past I have only done LFR on this account due to time constraints.
LFR isn’t really meant to teach mechanics. It really is for people who would not normally raid for whatever reason. I think a lot of people think LFR is something that its not. Accept it for what it is and if you want to do it great, if not don’t do it.
I agree. It undermines the epicness of other raid tiers and keeps some people from feeling motivated to go the extra mile. It also heavily exasperates the problem of ridiculous exponential power gains. The difference in player power at the end of an expansion compared to the start is just absurd. Next expansion we will be back to the millions guaranteed. Remove LFR (and mythic for that matter…) and that should at least alleviate some of the pain points there.
I’d like it for us to go back to the days of just 2 difficulties. Normal and Heroic. Normal being flex and Heroic being 20 or 25-man. This fixes so many issues…
Raids feel like epic raids again, power progression slows down, less dev time needed to balance so many difficulties, and makes the game a bit more community focused.
It’s not meant to teach or make better raiders. It was designed and continues to be a way for non raiders to see the story and allow Blizzard to put more resources into Raids. Since more players see it they get a bigger budget for them, which allows better story integration with the questing zones.
LFR was created so more people could go into raids. Before that only 10% raided. So Blizz had to come up with a plan to save raiding…LFR. So in effect just so the game could become more raid centric and less MMORPG we get LFR. Coincidentally the same xpac that started the LFR began the decline of what we think of as traditional WOW.
Vanilla through wraith the subs grew and had the least sub drops through the various patches. CATA came and brought the LFR and at that same xpac we see the game going through what can only be called roller coaster sub populations.
Fast forward to now and we have a game in which subs populations are massive 10 million+ and then drop like a rock a few months in due to the lack of content outside of raiding. Even Legion with the massive amount of content for non raiders was ruined by the fact that even though there was a lot of content, you still had to go into raids to complete various non raiding goals…as explained many, many times on the forums.
Overall what we see historically is Blizz becoming less and less of an MMORPG in favor of just being an MMO. The raiding devs in their rush to make the game raid centric has created an environment where people are pushed into raiding primarily because the devs want raiding. Proof?
Want to complete your professions? Go raid. Want the best gear? Go raid. Want to see the story? Go raid. Leveling is stupid quick just to get you to that raiding point. Gear drops from the heavens just to get you to that raiding point. This isn’t a horrible thing but some of the PVP’ers, gatherers, pet battlers, RPGers and casuals do not WANT TO RAID and sadly those numbers are probably about the same as those sub numbers that drop a few months in…millions.
Going forward Blizz has a choice. They can keep making more and more content about raiding and seeing numbers drop a few months in or they can try to aim the game at being an MMORPG again…their choice.
Not everyone wants to perform a Method! I do not want! I do not need!
I just go in raids to see the story and pick up some equipment and achievs!
I do not want to be in a raid full of people who only see ITL or evaluate me if I can play through a delayed value given by the Raider.
These people also do not want me or others who do not meet their values of excellence! So let the competitive environment for those who seek it and the “simple mode” for those who just want to see the lore!
I tried to play this competitive way in the cataclysm and I did not like being kicked all the time because my DPS is bad, I’m not in the right place or someone with better ITL or DPS has arrived and I’m no longer needed!
I have already seen that it is a bad environment for me, and I do not want to get involved in higher levels of difficulty, because someone in the higher plane feels “uncomfortable” with the mediocrity of others!
Because the world is full of people who can not just live their lives, in their world, and have a kind of neurosis that forces them to consider that whoever does not do things like her or applies things she thinks is important as she, has to be forced to fit into these values or be removed?
They seem to have some kind of disturbance!
So are you proposing that people who don’t raid will suddenly start raiding if they no longer have LFR to do? Blizzard admitted that isn’t going to happen. People who don’t raid don’t raid because they don’t want to.
Or are you saying that people should be forced to have the type of social interaction you dictate rather than the kind they want?
I don’t think that would be good for the game at all.
Learn to pay attention.
I dont like your thread topic here.
and I have a RIGHT to not like it just like YOU have a RIgHT to complain about whatever it is you are whining about.
Either get back to THAT topic or please stop posting in my direction
mmmm k?
thanks.
which we have stated many, many MANY times that we WONT.
its not about getting us to join their guilds and their raids and they KNOW it.
IF that is all its about then instead of their elitist CRAP on this forum like this thread theyd come in here to RECRUIT players…INVITE them into their guilds.
Instead what we see is thread after thread after thread of players complaining because the elitists WONT let them run with them BECAUSE they dont have some stupid achievement or their ilvl is 8 points too low.
They ARENT in here to recruit, which is the nonsense they TRY to claim when they are whimpering about LFR.
They want CONTROL and to feel like raiding makes them special. That is ALL this topic is about.
No one wants to recruit players like this, though. The guilds that actively recruit are not “casual” by your standards. They want to kill bosses and progress.
It was never meant to teach anything, it was the easy mode version of normal. you know that thing that tons of games have… called “difficulty levels”? Yeah its there to be easy mode or story mode. Its not meant to be ball breaking hard and the gear it drops is fairly weak unless you have the gods own luck for it to titanforge which is rare.
yeah, that got annoying REALLY quick when I had grown to the point where I wanted nothing to do with any raiding or group content whatsoever.
Cant finish leveling my profession without a raid.
Cant get a pattern except in a raid.
Screw it. I can just delete the profession and take mining instead.
OP makes a claim.
I personally disagree with their reasoning.
OP agrees with my reasoning and has a better understanding of why it should remain in the game, even if they’d still like it changed or removed.
It’s not about “Anti-LFR” it’s about trying to get players interested in a better raiding experience. I make the claim LFR isn’t raiding because it doesn’t capture the spirit of a organized raiding experience. Whether you disagree with me, or agree (probably not), I’d still want LFR Heroes to give organized raiding a go. It’s a bit daunting at first, but once you get comfortable, it opens up a whole new endgame for them to experience.
I find normal+ raiding not worth the hassle tagged to it been there done that cata was going to be my last expansion then the holy grail that is LFR came out and i never looked back ftw no regrets
