…crap. I logged out in the middle of the scenario WHILE reading this post, but before getting to your comment. And thing is, I got 12 mawsworn slimed in a single run, so it’s conceivable that I could have finished that part if I kept at it. But I figured I’d be better off waiting at least a day before trying to continue.
Just curious but is Stress Testing not a thing during PTR?
That requires money. Activision doesn’t like spending money to ensure things smoothly run
It absolutely is, but PTRs can’t catch every situation and often it does not produce the same level of stress as a live launch.
Welp, back to FF 14 then.
Same for me. Trying to play it now. Way too much lag. Going to hearth out and try again in a few days.
Sadly, blizz still makes your money even when the game is unplayable
I love this “please understand its very complicated” stuff. This literally happens every single content release for the last 15 years, and you want us to be understanding? how about fix the glaring issues in your game that have literally been the same issues forever and stop asking the community to just be okay with half-assed development
and even though the exact same thing happens every single launch, you guys still cant seem to figure it out? how many tries do you need to fix the thing that literally happens EVERY RELEASE
Start offering your subscribers a free month of game time for properly stress testing your patches.
The ptr would be full of ppl testing. Make so they have to fill up a bar of test time and reward them with a free month.
We pay to play not pay to test…
The support agent is only relaying the information they’ve been given. They have no hand in the development of the game itself.
Every patch will have different content than previous patches, so no, they cannot do the same type of testing. The smallest blips get blown out of proportion on the forums as everyone picks up their pitchforks.
Gosh I’m really getting tired of the “omg we can’t anticipate how slammed the servers would be with only PTR testing” excuse when other MMOs seem to do just fine on release day for new content. It’s no secret. You KNOW there will potentially be a few orders of magnitude more people logging in and going through the content than normal for the first month (maximum), so you get temporary extra hardware to deal with it. Quit cheaping out and then thinking apologies will make it all better. They don’t.
The server people work during the day, the testing is done during the day. Not everyone downloads the PTR or logs in when they have testing. So nope, there is no way to duplicate it.
This has nothing to do with the amount of hardware. Many issues will arise because there is absolutely no way to test every combination of hardware/software players will ultimately use to play the game.
Confident those games have smaller playbases.
Extreme lag during Ardenweald Battle. Have been suffering through until “A Wing and a Slime” It’s now impossible to progress through as the slime fire 10-15 seconds after key pressed. Can’t log out or you’ll be ported back to Orobos and have to restart.
it is literally every damn patch and patch days have gotten worse over the years not better this is unacceptable anymore and these snarky responses arent helping you
I just make a habit to not expect smooth play after a patch. This isn’t exactly unexpected.
Also, I’m sure with it being peak eastern play time and large servers; it’s bound to be rough as everyone who left came back
Seems that I was fortunate to not have any issues during the Ardenweald scenario. But now that I’m in Korthia the situation is maddening.
Doing anything of the following takes TOO.MUCH.TIME:
- combat (particularly against the 62+ enemies that gather many people)
- skinning
- looting chests/containers
- accepting quests
- selling stuff to NPCs
- even the time between feigning death and an enemy stopping following me
As others have said, every expansion/patch launch is the same… how is this still happening?
FFXIV currently is estimated as having more active subs than WoW, both numbering in the low millions. The launch-day bugs they’ve had with their content compared to WoW is staggeringly small. Also, if you’re saying the devs can’t figure out how much power is needed because “they only work/test during the day” then you’re essentially calling them stupid.
This isn’t a case of not enough testing. This is a case of not wanting to spend the necessary money to make sure it goes smoothly because it can be hand-waved in a week or two when things settle down. Period.
Lag is finally decreasing.
