Why not?
Right now in this very moment I think a lion race in a faction with a lion as their symbol would be cool. That’s… well, you know… my opinion^^
If you want to play the fairness card, how is it fair that one faction got a customization option for gnomes, while the other got a highly requested new race in form of Vulpera?
btw one of the many reasons why I would like to see all races neutral. Because of discussions like this one right now. It’s tiresome.
Please read what I said correctly.
I first said Saberon should be neutral and the thought of having such a race in the Alliance would be cool. I never said they should only be Alliance.
As we look forward into the new year, I plan to continue supporting playable Saberon as best as I can. They are one of my most wanted playable races after all, and I hope to see them on that character creation screen someday!
With a new year comes a new month! That means another round of in-game playable race requests!
At the beginning of each month, I send in in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly is reasonable.
If you’re interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:
I do think this helps some in showing interest in playable Saberon and to help remember that some came with us from AU Draenor. Let us make sure the Saberon are not forgotten!
Came across another cool art piece from DeviantArt. This is of a Leonin (D&D) Barbarian, and it was created by rudiindra4 and uploaded to the website on October 15th, 2021.
If Saberon were to become playable, I think that lion customizations with manes would be a pretty popular choice for Saberon players. This art piece helps to imagine how that could look for Saberon Warriors. Maybe not quite as regal-looking, but still something awesome to see in combat and also as NPC’s for storylines.
I’ll continue to look for things to share to inspire playable Saberon ideas!
Honestly, the principle of how they applied gear on the Dracthyr forms could be used for other races as well!
Sure not all gear pieces, but having some applied and even some custom-made sets to be applied on said-race could be utilised on many others too, such as:
The next Dragonflight patch, which is a small one, releases on January 24th (US) and 25th (Europe):
Not a whole lot of interest with regards to Saberon. The closest that potentially comes to have any relation to them is the Trading Post feature. There have been some WoD related weapons said to be on there, though I don’t know if any would be Saberon-related. Perhaps we could see an item that is Saberon related in the future, however, so I’ll keep an eye on potential rewards in case something pops up.
I came across this video of an art piece someone did of a Saberon Royal Guard, in which they do a paintover to try to improve their work. Video is below:
It’s a really neat art piece that helps to imagine how Saberon could look as they evolve as a species and their society changes. Not sure if a monarchy would be what they would gravitate towards, but it’s still a pretty neat idea.
As usual, I’ll continue to find things to share in order to help inspire playable Saberon ideas!
Speaking of, I wouldn’t mind having Bards as a class. Not sure if Saberon would be able to be one, but if they could, then I could remake my Vah Shir/Kerran Bard from Everquest 1 and 2 as a Saberon Bard in WoW. Otherwise, I’d just make him as a Rogue.
Blizzard has announced some features of the upcoming .7 patch:
The main particular thing of interest is that the Monk class is coming to Goblins, Worgen, and Lightforge Draenei:
Seeing as all current playable races are getting the Monk class, aside from Dracthyr, it gets me to think that future playable races would be able to get the monk class as an option as a result.
I don’t really see Saberon being an expection. Some races that became playable got the Monk class from training with Pandaren right when they became playable. I imagine the same thing would happen with Saberon. I could see that being a fairly popular race/class combo as well.
I don’t know if playable Saberon would utilize Worgen skeletons and animations like the NPC version does. If they do, it could help having Worgen Monks as a thing. At the very least, I imagine Saberon having their models built from the ground up.
Seeing new race/class combos open up is pretty exciting news in general, and I think it will help give future playable races some class options we wouldn’t have considered before. As we see more race/class options open up, I’ll be sure to report on them.
