Unoffical Playable Ethereal Discussion Thread

Im pretty sure the void lords destroyed their planet then enslaved them.

Could be wrong.

i am truly hopeful that in midnight or at the very latest last titan we get them as a playable race. sure im really bias as i have wanted them since bc.

Some do, others donā€™t.

The Ethereum sought vengeance at any cost and ended up losing themselves to the point of desiring to become void.

Now as the Void Ethereal Saprish has the tilte Ethereum-Lord of the Shadowguard, it does suggest the Ethereum and Shadowguard are connected. Thus the Shadowguard may be Ethereum who become void, but fell to its dark influence.

Only in so much as Draenor was destroyed when it became Outland. Kā€™aresh is still there its just been devasted. Some Ethereals continue to fight and remain what they are. Many have become Void Ethereals though.

I think theres about three or four different major factions we know of.

Aside from a few places in TBC and Legion its not really greatly explained to be fair. Some of it might be contradictory too. :person_shrugging:

Why would any ethereal serve a void lord? Even the ones that fell to the void doesnā€™t necessarily mean they serve the void lords. Slavery or mind control seems most likely for any that do serve the void lords.

The void does corrupt the mind, as weā€™ve seen before. So they might not have started out with the intention to serve the Void Lords but fell into the trap that many do when using the void.

Itā€™s important to remember that we donā€™t know how Dimensius the All-Devouring found Kā€™aresh. So there is always the possibility that a group of those who would become Ethereals started worshipping the void and called him to the planet.

In thinking about a class for an Ethereal, Iā€™m leaning towards something that I currently donā€™t have. Perhaps an Ethereal Rogueā€¦

Iā€™m so thrilled to know that Iā€™m not the only person whoā€™d love to see Blizz introduce a playable Ethereal !!!

This gives me hope.

I redid the Undermine chapters on my Orc Death Knight and I have to admit that I think that Phase-Thief Azir was pretty cool.

Iā€™m not against a reveal that he is independent of Xalā€™atath. Like say wanting to use the Dark Heart for a noble purpose and as an avenue to Horde Ethereals. Alleria smarting over him getting away from her, could help develop a rivalry between them or something.

If that is true, when do you think Blizzard will reveal that?

If Phase-Thief Azir is independent of Xalā€™atath, we could get that reveal as soon as 11.1.5. The patch is suppose to have this Nightfall event and for all we know, Nightfall could be what seems to be a Void civil conflict.

At the very least I do think the hunt for Azir and the Dark Heart will be the story focus after Gallywix and the Undermine. So if not 11.1.5, then perhaps 11.1.7 as the stage is set for 11.2.

I have a question about your theory, if Phase Thief Azir was independent of Xalatath, then why would he work against Alleria instead of with her?

He might have his own goal with the Dark Heart that Alleria would oppose. He could also see Xalā€™atathā€™s interest in her as a reason to stay away. He could simply be untrusting of other races.

Theres so little we know, so its all up in the air.
