Unobtainable loot fix and what to do about it

I share this idea as someone who has sets and mounts you can no longer get. IDC if other have a copy of old digital cosmetic set/mount. THE GAME IS 18 YEARS OLD.

  • For pvp mounts/trans mogs give ONE 2k token per season per character to buy one transmog set or mount. Current gear or legacy.
  • For AOTC mounts just make them a low drop chance on the last bosses. Farmable like Invincible. OR have some kind of timewalking scale down to let people run it like the old days to earn it.
  • Old raid/dungeon gear & mount drops just put them back.

Edit: The thread I originally set out to find an answer to for this topic if you wish for more on the subject. Stop. Making. Cool. Stuff. Unobtainable

Absolutely nothing. Let the past rest in peace and learn to accept that you can’t always get what you want.

Basically your thread has the two takes already, good ideas, good response. I don’t think anyone is changing anyone’s mind today.

Funny how defensive people get over pixels. I care not if people get the mounts or gear I have. /shrug

We both know that’s not how GD works.

Good for you. Maybe you even think that makes you virtuous, and you wanted to signal that to us.

Some people do care, and they were promised those items would be exclusive. I’m guessing you care not for those people.

At the end of the day, some people are going to have to emotionally deal with the fact that they can’t get everything they want.

Well you could get closer to that than you would getting those old mogs/mounts

I’ll never understand why people care at all about the exclusivity of intangible digital items they own. You are not allowed to sell the items or your account so the items have no real collectible value at all like sports memorabilia does, it’s just a string of 1s and 0s that we will ALL one day lose access to once WoW reaches it’s inevitable end. Exclusivity in this case serves no purpose except to feed the ego of the small portion of the playerbase that needs exclusive items to feel important.

I don’t just support making the exclusive items I own available through some other means, I would actually applaud it. Exclusivity of digital items was, is, and always will be a stupid concept. And to clarify, there’s no unobtainable item I don’t own that I currently want (most of them are old and are really showing their age), so I have nothing to gain if they did change this.

yeah right.

I don’t know why they care, I’m not one of them. The fact is they do care, and shouldn’t be screwed over because some Johnny-come-latelys think they deserve whatever they want. Since I don’t have a dog in this fight, I see two groups of people who want something that is in opposition to the other group. The best solution is the one that is the most fair. The Johnny-come-latelys were never told they could have an exclusive, while the people who earned their exclusives were told they would remain exclusive.

Somebody has to be left wanting in this issue. I feel it should be the people who were never told they could have something. The other group shouldn’t have the rug yanked out just because some other people have wants.

I get why companies do promotions by offering limited time rewards. I get why people new to the game would want them. I have some mounts people want and there’s a couple of mounts I missed out on. If I don’t get the one I really want, and I’m not expecting them to offer it, I’m going to be just fine.

“imagine someone caring about pixels lulw” - someone who cares about pixels

I certainly don’t.
Because they have no monetary value and they are not in any kind of limited supply.

I think it’s just a little sad to give 2 craps about exclusivity. So what, you can look cooler? stand out from the “noobs”?

I mean that is sad I’m sorry.

Ok, and that’s fine. We don’t have to feel their reasons are virtuous. That is not what fairness is about.

Some people get in their feels over the idea too it seems lol

Your guild says Benevolent, you present your case in the fashion not of need, but of sharing. Immediately dismissing an argument of another as merely pixels.

Your words are stained with the hallmarks of a con artist.

This is your plea to complete your own collection and has nothing to do with kindness to others. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

“I missed out, therefore I am entitled to whatever I missed”

Depends on the loot type, for me.

Old gear and quest rewards that were removed from the game because of the Cata revamp? Absolutely! Blizzard did some of this with the Salvage option in Garrisons.

Seasonal mounts and AOTC? Not sure.

Collectors’ edition pets and mounts? No.

If you paid mustang a stupid amount of money probably… have you asked them?
