Funny, my experience on the PTR as a level 10 was:
Arrive from Exile’s Reach. Die before the griffon despawned.
Run away from the zombie mass at the gates. Rez. Die instantly when a zombie dashed over and one-shot me.
Run farther away from the gates. Rez. Die again to a zombie one shot.
Manage to rez all the way where the front wall meets the mountains. Die YET AGAIN to a zombie dashing over from the road.
Now, that was the first day the event was on the PTR, and I understand things were nerfed later, but it definitely wasn’t “easy to avoid on a level 10 toon”.

was real easy I drove drove around on my little chauffeur mount thing took some back alleys didn’t run head first into zombies and bam out of town and on my way to quest in the big bad world died like 2 times maybe 3? now i’m sure if I hunkered down in front of the ah i’d of died a million times but it’s not nearly as bad as the whiny karens made it sound and with a lvl high enough to fly I didn’t die at all see zombie mount and fly away easy peezy need an ah i can sit in go to garrison. This coming from a guy to lazy to go to a bathroom so I have peed out my window and yet this is to hard for people sad days also I hate my neighbors so there bushes can die.
LOL, he thinks a level 10 can go sit in their garrison.
So I’m going to assume your level 10 was already in an isolated section of SW and not arriving fresh from Exile’s Reach. Since Exile’s Reach drops you right at the front gates of SW. I haven’t tested Horde side, but I assume they got dropped off in a similarly bad spot.
I’d like to know which “back alleys” of SW lead “out of town” (unless you were in Org, in which case I assume the back gate was free of zombies).
Technically, in SL they can, assuming they can escape being dropped in the middle of a zombie horde.

Easy fix let it be on warmode there done… the people that want to do it turn War mode on the people that don’t they leave War mode off

These are some really good points. I’m surprised blizzard doesn’t know how to take a neutral approach to complaints instead of swinging to extremes. A prepatch event like this could easily have been made fun for people without forcing anyone to take part in it.
Now if only they could take such extreme actions with other annoyances in the game, such as griefing multiboxers.

They should just have waves of ghouls come through the gates and entrances of the cities with varying degrees of strength.

You people are the reason this game will forever be on rails.

i’ll give you that I didn’t pop in from exiles reach since I being a dummy copied over a lvl 10 mostly to see what the complaints were from also never said lvl 10 go sit in your garrison but the poor attempt to troll is just sad my man at least put in some effort also not sure I most play horde but I wen’t by some store that sold wine wasn’t to terrible sure as lvl 10 did a corpse run a few times bet I did but really maybe added ten mins? stop being whiny babies (for the record I support warmode on type opt in seems the best option if there was a compromise.)
Then you have crazies like me. I wanted the event to go live. But, I always wanted Blizzard to do something to curb the griefing. Which even early on was already happening.
Unrestricted power with no consequences leads to bad things happening. Think about how many toys Blizzard has had to nerf because players abused them. I mean, I heard of groups summoning so many toys they crashed servers.
Behavior like that is why we can’t have nice things.

I cannot understand why people would want their ingame events to not be impactful.

Impactful is good. But, a good story should be controlled. So that you don’t have jerks taking a good story and ruining it.
I’ve done tabletop gaming. I’ve seen great evenings of fun ruined by one jerk deciding to be just that, a jerk. And everyone’s evening is ruined.

I wanted the event to go live, too, just with scaling (so lowbies could participate) and a sensible response from the NPCs (guards setting up safe zones, priests and paladins rallying to protect citizens, both NPC and player), so that there wasn’t total disruption for players who didn’t want it.
This could have been so good for everyone, bar the outliers who just wanted to grief with impunity.

I see the argument but only fair way is to really do opt in like warmode would be super simple blizz just said fudge everyone and nerfed it all together.
I’m not on the beta and I haven’t visited the PTR. Don’t you have to complete some quests in your capital city before you start the questline to enter Draenor and start your garrison?
Thinking of the last time I did it, I hope a level 10 doesn’t have to make their way to the Blasted Lands to start that.
Sad, but it is what it is. Though the worst thing is, it goes from the chaos of the zombies to “dailies in northrend”. Kinda feels like they didn’t really have a consistent story planned from start to finish. I mean, run around, check the status of your local area, then go to northrend … and kill cultists and the like. Every day. For god knows what kind of reward.
So even if they’d made the zombie invasion part engaging without griefing issues … I think once people saw the northrend part … the interest would fade.

yeah but now we just got dailies…which is even worse…

I haven’t gone to Draenor, but I believe everything starts with Chromie, who can be found near the embassy for your faction.
My guess is that first a level 10 getting out of the starting zone will have to survive their capital city, hardly a given the way the event was originally described.
Agreed.
I want to camp barbershops and portal rooms with my friends, so we can stop as many people as we can from seeing the new options.
You don’t get many opportunities to openly grief people in WoW, this even isn’t fun, but it does provide a window for fun things to happen.
