I am a horde player trying to swap server to play with friends who are on alliance. I would really love to unlock a void elf to keep the blood elf look and plus they are 100x cooler. How long from scratch would it take me to unlock this allied race? I have a random 33 death knight from years ago that’s somewhat into legion. I tried watching a guide but the few starting quests to get to Argus are not showing up. Any advice would be great! as well as how much time it would take to do this. Someone I know said it took them months and I do not have that kind of time just to create a new character to play with friends. Thanks guys.
The biggest thing is it’s locked behind the Crucible portion of the Legion campaign, when it was current this would take you about 3 months at a somewhat casual rate on Argus… if you’ve pretty much done all of Legion already then You’ll just have to go to the embassy in Stormwind to do the actual unlock quest which…is trivial, you’ll be done in a day if you’ve already done the entirety of the Legion Crucible/Sigil sub campaign to get “You are now prepared”. (Assuming you’ve already taken a character fully through Legion, even if you haven’t I believe a 60 well equipped enough could probably do it quite easily)
Even if you completed Legion and the requirements on a horde toon you should be fine if I recall correctly.

According to this guide, You Are Now Prepared! should only take a few hours.
There’s no rep grind anymore it’s pretty fast. You have to complete all of the quests for the campaign in Argus and you’ll unlock them at this point.

I believe the only thing required is the you are now prepared achievement. If you have the achievement on a horde character you should be good to go
I believe the only other thing you need is a level 50 Alliance to start the recruitment Quest. The achievement is not faction specific

First, the character to do this must be 45. You may have to get all Broken Isles factions to friendly to unlock world quests, which gives you your flight whistle. You have to complete the Broken Shore before The Hand of Fate appears in the Violet Citadel.
But it’s been years since I did that the first time in Legion. Some of the requirements have been removed or changed, but others remain, and I am not sure if there is something else you must do first.
They should just let people have void elves already.
IIRC Argus requires you to be lv45.

Requirements for Legion ARs are not faction restricted. All you have to do is go to the embassy and do the intro quest as an Alliance alt… if you played Legion as a Horde character.
I don’t think you need rep now so even though you start from scratch it’ll take just 1-2 weeks I think.

Edit) Welcome to the Alliance. 
You can do it in a week just do every void rep quest and any mission table quests for it. Doesnt take long like 10 mins a day
Edit apparently rep is gone from needing them yea just do the story of Argus and then you’ll need an ally to unlock and it can be done with a trial toon thats how I did it back in legion
