Can we unlock all of them at the same time? Or once we pick one to unlock, are the others locked down until the one you picked is filled out?
It’s gated by your skill, you get one at 25, another at 50, then depending on whether your prof has 3 or 4 specs, the others at 75/100 or just 100.
Because it is very difficult to get some professions to 75 let alone 100, this means you have to carefully choose your first two specs because it may be a while till you see a third.
However, this is being addressed on the PTR for the next big update, so it will not be quite as severe after that.
You unlock specializations based on your profession level, the amount of points invested is irrelevant. The first is at 25, second at 50. The remaining specs depend on wether you have 3 or 4 total specs available to your profession. If 3, you unlock the third at 100. If 4, the third is at 75 and fourth at 100. Be aware that for most professions, getting past 60-70 can be very difficult, so be sure the first two choices have stuff you want before committing.
Any ETA when the next big update might happen?
My LV is sitting at 70 skill right now…not sure whether to go ahead and spend a minor fortune for the mats to get up to 75 or to wait for this update.
We can only ever speculate on release dates but given it is on the PTR now it is likely early Feb, probably the 7th or 14th.
