Hi all!
Just came back to WoW. Very excited for Shadowlands. I’m in the process of unlocking Alliance allied races (I just got lightforged dranei and void elves).
My question is this; after I finish unlocking all the alliance races, can I boost a horde toon to 120 and begin unlocking all the horde allied races on the same account?
And just to be clear, if I do this, I will be able to choose between all 10 allied races and its account wide?
I’ve not played since right after Draenor dropped and it’s an extremely daunting task coming back! I couldn’t imagine a brand new player lol. My daughter wants to play with me, but she’s gonna wait for Shadowlands in hopes it will be simpler!
Thanks all for the help!
Yes, you can unlock all the allied races on one account, and once unlocked, you can make an allied race on any server. Further, if you have more than one wow account on the same Battle.net account, it will unlock them on all them. (Although any accounts will need to be upgraded to BfA to access them.)
When unlock pre-requisites are doable by either faction, you can do those on the “opposite” faction. So, if your Alliance character got the Highmountain Rep and did the whole Highmountain storyline, all you’d need to do on the Horde character is the final unlock scenario. (And as I see you posting on a human, you may just want to do that and the Suramar pre-reqs on that character for the 10% human rep bonus.)

Awesome! So now I just need to figure out what horde race/class to boost. Excited!
Thanks alot for the advice! Although abit overwhelmed at coming back to WoW, I sure did miss it!
May I hijack this thread for a follow up question.
Do I need BFA to unlock the races? I’m returning and do not currently have BFA and wanted to wait until it goes on sale again, but in the meantime start farming anyways.
Cheers.
Yes you do. Though you can get started on some unlock requirements from the races in Legion content, allied races themselves were added as BFA content when 8.0 pre-patch went live.
