Unlocking Allied Races of the Opposite Faction

If I gain rep with an Alliance character, will still be able to unlock Horde races and vice-versa? For instance, can I unlock the Nightborne while playing as a dwarf?

For the Legion Allied Races like Nightborne, yes, you can get the rep with an opposite faction character; however, there’s one final short quest chain that requires a 110 character of the same faction to fully unlock it because the quest starts in the embassy in either Stormwind or Orgrimmar.

For Nightborne, you can get the rep on an Alliance character, but you’ll still need a 110 level Horde character to do that last little quest part. You used to be able to use a class trial character, but I’m not sure if that method still works since it’s not really how the class trial system is supposed to be used.

For the allied races that were added in patch 8.1 (Dark Iron Dwarves & Mag’har Orcs) and the upcoming allied races in patch 8.1.5 ( Zandalari Trolls and Kul Tiran Humans), you can’t do the reputation grind on a character of the opposite faction. For those allied races, all the work has to be done on an Alliance character (for the dwarves & humans) or a Horde character (for the orcs & trolls). Unlike Legion, the required reputations aren’t available to the opposite side.
