So in Shadowlands, players are getting a lot of new customizations, from 3rd degree burns to leaves in hair.
And in BFA, Night Elves were able to get Black Eye customizations with the completion of the Darkshore Warfront starting quest.
So this presents precedent for a great opportunity Blizzard could capitalize on.
What if, like transmog, mounts, pets, and toys, players could “unlock” various appearances and customization options by completing various things in the game?
Like, for instance, a player completes a questline in a very cold, sub-zero degree environment which causes them to unlock a “frostbite” appearance, where parts of their body/face appear frozen.
Obviously Blizzard shouldn’t tie CURRENT appearance options to achievements, quests, or events (they already added burns. I’m not asking those burns to be locked behind killing Ragnaros or something), but it would be interesting if even more appearances could be unlocked through various feats.
Like, what if there was a certain type of distinctive scar that players get by beating a certain boss. Other players could see that scar and think “Wow! That person took down X, and has the scar to prove it!”
I love all of this. New customization is obviously good, but they could very easily create some awesome rewards by putting some behind ingame challenges, as well.
Adding to this, some way to unlock Heritage armor for all other races would be amazing.
great idea i think after we get the heritage armor set for trolls there should be some sort of dialogue called “congrats your a man now and can grow a beard!” and give trolls beards, better yet just give us beards
The latter. I’ve tried it on WoWhead’s changing room, and while there’s a few clipping issues, they’re not so huge (or so unlike every armor piece in the game…) that I think they’d be a dealbreaker.
Of course, just having more heritage would be sweet, too. They’re neat armor designs.
I think for something like this to work, it’d need to be locked behind actual content, not dull as dishwater, timelocked reputation grinds.
Something like doing a unique challenge with the League of Mustaches to unlock some facial hair.
