Unlock Allied Race: Dark Iron Concerns?

A friend of mine is deeply upset about not being able to unlock the Dark Iron Dwarves. His argument is that:
Because he has hit the level at which Shadowlands campaigns take over the BfA Campaigns in the quest log, he cannot track his BfA campaign progress in trying to unlock the Dark Irons. As a Horde main for 10+ years, this is incredibly frustrating for him trying to figure out the Alliance.

  1. Is there something Blizz can do to make old-content campaigns trackable in the UI?
  2. Does anyone have any advice they can provide that is 9.0 or later based, to help us get those Dark Irons unlocked?

Personally I am happy to do all the quests, but he is more succinct with his time.

Please help! We really wanted to play Dark Iron dwarves!

For Dark Irons, the prerequisite is the Ready For War achievement. By watching it, you can (to some degree) track your progress through the campaigns. I hope that helps…

The Dark Iron pre-requisites aren’t too long. (The longest part will be unlocking world quests if it’s their first character through BfA as they’ll need to do enough questing in each zone to get to friendly. If they’ve already unlocked world quests for BfA — even on a Horde character — the rep isn’t needed.) Here’s the basic outline:

  1. Do the 3 Foothold quests for the War Campaign. (These unlock travel to each of the enemy faction zones.) You can get these from Halford Wyrmbane on the alliance ship in Boralus Harbor. On your first character through BfA, you’ll have to do the Island Expedition tutorial before you can do the 3rd foothold.
  2. Hit level 50. (Sounds like this is done.)
  3. Get the Heart of Azeroth. (The Eathen Guardian NPC near the inn in Boralus will have “A Dying World” or you can try taking the Silithus portal and talking to Magni directly.
  4. Unlock world quests by completing “Uniting Kul Tiras” from Halford Wyrmbane. (As a quick note, if they get the version that requires friendly with each zone, be aware that Order of the Embers rep is weird. You don’t get any rep for the first part of the quest chain, but then you get a whole bunch all at once after you actually form the Order of the Embers. So, even if it feels like you aren’t making progress on that rep, you are.)
  5. Do the first part of the War Campaign. Halford Wyrmbane will start all of these quest segments. So, just keep doing his quests until you have the “Ready for War” achievement.

Edit: The actual unlock quest chain requires a BfA dungeon, so if they aren’t level 51+ yet, they may want to lock their level to 50 so they can use the dungeon finder for it. Otherwise, they’ll have to manually find a group or wait until 60 (and gear up a bit) to solo it.
