I think my universal translator is broken. Whenever I’m playing the game and I run into horde soldiers or what not through questing they’ll often times shout out something and usually its translated perfectly into common for me to understand. Though whenever I’m out hunting the occasional vulpera player and they start shouting things at me in /yell my Universal Translator doesn’t seem capable of translating. Why is it that I can understand npcs from the opposite faction, however when it comes to players I can’t understand? Is my Universal Translator broken? I imagine others are having similar issues with their Universal Translators seeing as they’ve had similar experiences. Would be nice if Blizzard could fix this.
Is that an addon?
No, its what everyone in the game gets upon character creation. It’s a magic item that lets you understand all the important npcs in game despite them speaking different languages.
Got a wowhead link… Been playing for 15 years and NEVER heard of it.
edit: okay, I guess I got trolled…
I always imagined our Hearthstone is why we could understand folk and whisper. Lol
It is odd that blizzard never let us just talk to one another.
Not like Blood and Void elves can’t do it… Or Pandaren. Or DHs…
Also why didn’t they ever implement learning new languages?
Go to the underbelly in legion dalaran. There is an npc there that sells a potion that let’s you understand everything.
Back in Alpha, forsaken players could speak common. They used to be able to… harass alliance players. Spamming vulgar language at each other. Blizzard decided that if people could not play nice, and talk to each other without swearing, then they would not allow the two sides to speak to each other.
Honestly at this point let the players learn other languages. It is not like My alliance characters could not understand Thrall or Baine during that quest. Or that I could not understand Varian and Jaina during the start of Legion.
Oh I know. (also kyuu)
But right now that happens just fine.
It’s not like it can’t be done right now. Lol
We see a lot of NPCs communicating between factions without issue. Even native races that never had contact with either faction.
I say we get an “azerothian”? “uldanian”? language to speak to the opposing faction. Open the floodgates.
At this point we shouldn’t need to waste precious gold just to fix an issue with a broken translator that blizzard has yet to fix. Not only that but the potion was only added so they could stealth nerf the mage’s arcane linguist ability.
Players from both sides should be able to communicate. Considering that 90% of both factions is literally void elves and blood elves who share a language blizzard needs to lift the language barrier entirely, or at least let us have learnable language skills for each if they don’t want to just hand it to us.
I hope, personally, that they go the route of language learning.
Allows them to add new ones down the line.
Nope, not broken that is working as intended. Thank those who couldn’t control themselves back in the original beta.
