There were few people who complained about it(I think Kylin was the one who complained) especially considering we were told even back at Blizzcon there would be an Alliance focused one(heck the teaser for the expansion set was Horde, Alliance and likely Alterac Valley)
I don’t recall offering much of a comment on the Barrens one. Feel free to provide the statement that you’re referencing though if you feel I’m misremembering.
Kinda hard to find now(this was a post back in Febuary) As I recall it was something you commented back during Blizzcon not believing the next expansion would be Alliance focused and had to argue with you using the expansion teaser showing red, blue then the clashing red/blue on snow field referring to alterac.

I think most people would be fine with Stormwind serving as your vanilla-human-fantasy-faction being an allrounder with a focus on knights and holy warriors. But, even a pure vanilla-faction needs at least some sort of flavor and background. Like the knights of Stormwind who appear everywhere have absolutely zero lore attached to them. The Church of the Holy Light has been pretty much written completely out of the story and the House of Nobles only exists for the purpose of serving as antagonists.

Agreed - and again, I wouldn’t have an issue with this if Blizzard didn’t insist on making everyone else conform to Stormwind’s themes to the point where they will destroy my tree in order to force me into accepting Stormwind as my capital.

Nah, it was a thread about blizzcon itself/pre blizzcon when all we had was the teaser trailer. Anyway doesnt really matter.
The end of trailer of literally has every race on their faction mount(except the night elf who was on his demon hunter mount)
I’d also point we will likely get one more trailer focused on the Alliance(ala Wailing Cavern for Forged).
At this stage I think we should call it the “Wrynn”-theme, because replace the humans of Stormwind with robots and literally nothing in the story would change.
And the Alliance in general suffers from the problem of not really being an alliance of nations, but some weird singular nation? I feel like Blizzard themselves are not really sure what the Alliance is actually supposed to be considering that even the powers and rights of the High King constantly move back and forth. At one point Anduin/Varian act like the actual “King of the entire Alliance” and in the next cutscene everyone is doing whatever they want.
Just reform the Alliance into an actual Holy Roman Empire with every leader becoming an Elector Count and make the High King the actual political and military leader of the entire Alliance. Clears up a lot of the problems and the confusion. (And even then the Emperor of the HRE wasn’t all that powerful anyway.)

I have to disagree pretty strongly with this - humans being given political power over what are, in the lore, other nations, is I think the wrong way to go. I understand that the HRE was in no way cohesive, but nominally everyone still had to report to the same emperor - and I don’t like the implications that such sets.

I like how Stormwind is so notoriously bland and uninteresting that other games reference the place as the default generic fantasy city it is. Its like going to Europe and only drinking Coors lite.
Also Ironforge is the OG WoW alliance capital, and no amount of developer fiat can change that.

I think Stormwind is fine, what I’m really hoping is that it showcases things like the Stormwind sewers, the underground, maybe even the rooftops.
On second thought, let’s not go to Stormwind… 'Tis a silly place.
