Unintuitive New Abilities - Withering Fire, Festering Scythe

Abilities that are triggered after every X cast of an ability are not intuitive to use, requires Weak Aura tracking, and causes degenerative gameplay.

Examples:

Festering Scythe could have been an iconic ability, It’s theme is on-point, and it is a much needed replacement for the uninspired and boring Festering Strike. But Festering Scythe is clunky to use, and creates gameplay where you would hold off on the use of Festering Scythe for the next pack.

And it seems the same clunky mechanic is now infesting another ability: Withering Fire. So instead of using Bestial Wrath normally, players will now need to track it to make sure Withering Fire proc is saved for the next pack or the next mechanic.

Why is there such a push for this clunky ability mechanic recently when it is stated that the Dev Team is trying to reduce the reliance on Weak Auras?

Because they think there are too many buttons to press and are afraid of adding more. Which is only true for a few classes.

It is true that there are probably too many buttons now. They should just outright replace another button instead. The whole “Abilities triggers after every X cast of an abilities” is simply bad design as it forces non-intuitive gameplay.

They should just replace Death and Decay with Festering Scythe (and Festering Scythe triggers Cleaving Strikes), and have Withering Fire tied with Call of the Wild.

DKs are already forced to take certain talents to use Hero talents, it is baffling they are doing this roundabout way to avoid forcing Hunters to choose Call of the Wild to use Withering Fire.

I don’t want a historic DK ability deleted just because some people don’t like it courtesy of bad tank behavior. Just improve the ability.

For some reason, despite overwhelming disdain for Cleaving Strikes and the doubling down on it. Festering Strike doesn’t interact with it, by perhaps… turning into Festering Scythe when standing in your own filth.
