I want to be fair here and say I don’t know what Blizz has planned but Censoring always has “Unintended Consequences”. For Example the context of a RL husband and wife flirting with each other in the game. This is healthy behavior for this kind of a relationship. (as long as they do it in RL too). I have met countless players in a relationship with one another who use the game as ANOTHER medium of spending meaningful time together. That time more often than not includes sexual advances and flirtation within a very appropriate context. If Censoring is implemented it will remove this option for them. No it will not ruin the relationship but it will take a large amount of fun out of the game for them.
Another point of unintended consequences is the end result is coddling adults who need to learn to be less offended or to stand up for themselves instead of shrinking away into their safe corners. Argument is healthy and some cultures actually promote it. How could we learn anything without sincere debate? Imagine how awesome a world it would be if people could learn to debate and still walk away respecting each other.
Please read the beginning sentence.
Stop inferring that I meant all behaviors. Also, For RP’ers Spitting is an essential part of their story telling as those who listen may “Spit” at the mention of the “Legion”.
I haven’t had a chance to log in and test this out since it’s been implemented… but I thought you can still spit in-game, you just can’t target anybody with it?
If that is the case…then you can still spit on the ground at the mention of Legion for RP, if you want.
You will never get a pass here…lol… They say “ALL skimpy Tmog’s MUST be removed, and any emote that could be offensive!!” and then say “Women should be allowed to wear whatever they want and not be objectified!” I really can’t work out how they think you can have it both ways… but I swear some of them if they tried to throw themselves on the ground… they would miss… Flirt away Sir and if someone doesn’t like it? then let them scamper to their little corner and wring their hands and clutch their pearls… doesn’t effect yours or my gameplay in the least.
winks at you… Tell your wife yes that was a blatant harmless flirt… excuse me a moment will you?.. (trigger warning) I flirted… so now all you who found it offensive, can run to your dark safe space grab you teddy bears and crayons and have yourself a swooon…
I don’t want to give the impression that offense is always a bad thing but more often than not in society the owness of it is on the offended and not the offender because it is a personality issue more than anything.
Men acting like pigs is obviously offensive.
Of course … but in another post I said I’m a 60 yr old woman who retired from the men dominated world of underground mining, I’ve had to put many men in their place, usually they walked away embarrassed and the other guys heckling them… but everyone of those men cried tears at my retirement party because they didn’t want me to leave… every moment of standing up for myself was worth turning men who acted like pigs, into men who had a greater respect for women in general. Had I whined and feigned offense at every little thing? it wouldn’t have had the same outcome and they would have only learned to respect women less…
