Uninstall trouble

Latest patch pushed my SSD close to it’s limit. Wow size is now about 70 gigs. Before buying a bigger ssd I decided to move wow to my much larger HD (same comp) and see how well it played. Copied and pasted to HD, opened from there and it played fine. Then tried to delete from ssd with no luck. Can’t just delete wow file because I get a popup saying file is in use somewhere else. So I went to control panel to uninstall. Popup from Windows asks if I want to allow app to make changes. I click yes and a 53 gig file starts downloading to my HD. I let it complete and seems to have overwritten wow file on HD. Total size now 53 instead of 70. Works fine. Old wow file is still on my ssd and I still can’t delete it. Any suggestions?

You have to uninstall it from your SSD from the Control Panel>Programs menu, you can’t just delete the files.

Also, if you “copy pasta’d” the files to your other hard drive it’s not actually “installed”…it will install as you play and will lag the game as it loads. You may not notice it everywhere, or until it’s uninstalled from the SSD, but it will happen.

You should fully uninstall from one drive then reinstall completely to the other.

Thanks for reply. Had to uninstall from both drives then reinstall on HD. Working fine. Don’t think I’ll worry about getting a bigger ssd.

glad to hear.

and for the future, copy and pasting warcraft over to a new hard drive is actually just fine. i’m not sure what was going on when you were trying to delete files, but if you copy/paste the folder to a new hard drive and point the battle.net app to the new location, you should be good to go.
