Unholy dk actually does the most damage, 60k dps all game how do you people think it’s bad.

Overall DPS=/= Burst DPS
Most of the complaints are PvP oriented. DK is the worst PvP class in game currently. Every single class has at least one better spec.
As far as raiding’s concerned people don’t have their tier sets yet and there will be balance passes so we don’t know how that will turn out, but yeah it’s the one thing DK is good at right now.
60k is not good.
High burst dmg at the start of the fight is not insane, a majority of Unholy’s dmg comes from the opener, after the opener, you fall off significantly, even if you get a second use of Gary, you still don’t burst anywhere near as high, especially if you don’t have lust. Unholy needs its dmg taken from Gary and put back into other abilities, all of your dmg should not be in one ability that you mega buff at the start of the fight.
And if unholy ends up being a good dps, good dps doesn’t mean good design, even if a class is doing alright or good at dmg, it doesn’t mean the design or rotation is good, it either means the class got lucky with good tuning or a good tier set. Unholy’s rotation and openers are annoying as hell to do, the AoE opener takes entirely to long to ramp up, which on long fights is alright, but quick fights leaves them in a terrible spot, and its simply due to the fact you have to press almost 8 gcds to get into regular rotation, where as other classes only need to press 4 or less, and the aoe rotation is annoying as well. The single target opener again, suffers from the same thing the aoe opener does, it takes entirely to long to set up and the single target rotation is alright, but could use improvements.
I personally would like to see a partial rework on unholy to see more build diversity and more choices in single target other then just the giga buffed Gary, cause even in the single target, the disease build that you “can” do, you take basically the same talents as the minion build except for 3-4 talents and you don’t even take Superstrain which you would think would be the center piece of the Disease build, but its not.
I’d also like to see abilities like DT, Grip, Abom, and DnD taken off the GCD to help smooth some of these things out.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CHANGE THE DEFILE GROUND VISUAL, the amount of times this damn ability has killed me because it covered up a ground aoe are to many to count. I had to talent out of that ability because of it killing me or someone else in my group.
Yea my dmg was insane at the opening of ss sequence, then got wiped up by war/boomie/fmage/rogue soon after lol
Where are you doing 60k, random BG’s? You have no content completed on your dk. At all.
You do 60k DPS during the first garg… Every other class does the same but does it with 100% uptime lmao. By the time your 2nd garg comes out your already sitting at 30-35k dps depending on the amount of padding your doing and that only goes up to like 40k during 2nd garg.
Pretty much every post but OPs hit the nail on the head. I love unholy as a whole but the over reliance on CDs is out of hand. I do like the theme of the abilities, I honestly wouldn’t even mind if the timers for the CDs and their damage was reduced to make them used a lot more often, just for the sake of making unholy damage more consistent. I know that wouldn’t be the best route to go but the damage outside of them is just so depressing.
Even spending RP dump on death coils is saddening. If anything, maybe they make it where dmg stacks as they hit, or make soul reaper be more beneficial… tired of having talent tress to be forced into only one path because the other choices are so bad and make the class unplayable.
Nah frost is genuinely terribly designed in PVE as well. Having ZDPS outside of cooldowns isn’t fun in any game mode. PVP is especially dire though for both specs.
