I havent been playing unholy in a bit, but jumped back on the spec yesterday. Feels like something is off…like not doing the damage it was a couple months ago.

Are you playing San’Layn? That is the go to now. Also unholy is the highest dps in M+ as of right now. Middle to lower middle of the pack in raid though.

That’s only good on huge pulls with mobs that live long enough to get going. Otherwise it’s very average and riders is probably better.

So, far San’layn best for M+ while rider is best for raid in general because of the single target.

Nope. Sanlayn is better across the board once you have 4pc tier from Undermine.

I’m a Death Knight not a Discount Old God Knight!
DK’s having Blood Beasts have been a thing since Wrath. Deathbringer Saurfang in ICC would summon one as a regular part of his fight. Granted, it looked way different but Old Gods are tied with the void. They don’t have anything to do with Blood.
A troll Loa like Hakkar maybe, but not an Old God.
Depends on the boss, really. For pure ST bosses, Unholy Riders can really do big damage. I was messing around on the world boss last night and did 4.5 ST, down to 3.2 by the time it was dead. I’m around 652 ilvl.
Riders with Clawing Shadows and extremely high mastery, moderately high haste does insane ST and has crazy reach. You can practically hit bosses from across the room unlike Vamp Strike which requires you to be on top of the boss.
I know everyone is playing San’Layn but outside of high keys where packs live through a full Dark Transfornation, it doesn’t feel as good to play in raid. Even on the bosses where 2-target DC cleave is strongest, I much prefer Riders for the mobility, auto Magic Shell and those 120k strength buff procs lol

I’ll be honest raw numbers and checking Warcraft logs San’layn is better for mythic plus and raid. I know I’m replying on an alt that is a warlock but my main is 2723 IO and I am 8/8 aotc. I’ve also killed the first two bosses on mythic prog in raid. San’layn as of right now is just way better for both. Also to give you an idea a 2723 IO means that I have timed all keys at a 10 and I have timed a couple keys at a 12 or above in this case I timed a 13 ToP I’m not the best player but I know what I’m talking about
Can you please quantify what way better means? Like, overall damage in priory, 3 mil vs 5 mil better?
Yes it LOOKED like it actually fit DK. The one we get with San’layn looks like freaking G’Huun who is NOT DK related.
If we got something fitting like a blood slime for it then I wouldn’t be saying anything. But we didn’t we got this off brand discount old god thing. Because remember BFA Lore? G’huun is a Discount Old God.
San’layn is simming around 2 mil higher in burst windows and around 2% higher in raid on all bosses

Wow danggg. Tyvm. I’ve tried it a couple of times but may be missing something. The guides on rotation seem simple enough…spam vs, and normal unholy rotation but there seems to be some nuances like tracking certain buffs before using dc etc unlike rider.
