Meanwhile, we’re what–approaching 10 lockouts in p1 wrath? People are raid logging multiple characters at this point and people have smashed through their rep grinds multiple times over. The content is on farm, and there’s nothing else to do aside from leveling another alt. Naturally, people are going to log in for their weekly raid smashes and go play other games. To quote to late, great word sayer Tupac Shakur–that’s just the way it is.
Ending this to say I doubt you are in a “sweaty” guild if you play with people who complain about the gold cost for raid prepping (whatever tf that means, buying speed pots?). Every gamer guild I’m aware of has a mountain of gold in their gbank from running gdkp splits along with enough abyss crystals from DE’ing trash drops to crash the economy.
Here is the issue that you apparently are not seeing because it does not impact you. People are upset because players like you just raid log each week, and they have NO ONE to run instances with or are having problems getting geared and ready for Ulduar themselves because there is no one willing to run any of the lower content. Because the bulk of the players are just raid logging each week, getting groups for anything like 70-79 instances or Heroics is next to impossible. This problem gets even worse for anyone in the 1-69 level range. The game is a ghosttown.
Then when these same people ask that we get some kind of system in place to resolve this, they are met with hate and told to go back to retail. Or have to deal with people insulting them with derogatory slights like “Retail Tourist”
It is some of the most hypocritical garbage I have ever seen. There are players that claim they want to “protect the community” and then become some of the most toxic people when they do not like someone’s opinion.
You’re trying to gear for Ulduar running dungeons? Naxxramus is free loot and can be cleared with next to zero dungeon loot. THAT is why everyone is raid logging. Because nearly all of the dungeon loot is either not needed to clear current content, or will not be enough for Ulduar which is probably 5-6 weeks away.
Even if I wasn’t raid logging, I wouldn’t be running 5 man dungeons with pugs to “help them gear for Ulduar”. It’s not the responsibility of the people that have already put the time into their character, over the last 11 weeks, to continue to run Utgarde Pinnacle for the 150th time for some random person so they can get dungeon blues that are not needed for Naxx and won’t be enough for Ulduar.
It’s not an issue that I am “not seeing”. The problem is you are making it an issue when it’s completely irrelevant content.

Sorry, but I really don’t have any positive way of framing the kind of people who will literally just abandon anything they do because something new and shiny of launched. It isn’t really a derogatory term so much as it’s simply describing what they do. Someone who will take the time to form a guild and then immediately abandon it along with anyone else in it is a tourist, or a flavor of the month player, or whatever other term you may choose. Unless of course we’re talking about a close-knit friend group who all play together and they all make a concerted decision to play a different game. But that’s not the picture the OP paints (and highly unlikely, talking about two totally diferent guilds) . The picture is one of “Dragonflight causes Classic players to quit en masse”.
And it seems to me that the only person who can possibly have this sort of experience and outlook in the game is either the unluckiest player in the world, or they’re the common denominator in the experience.
And how do you get geared in order to run Naxx, hmmmmmm? Most groups right now are gatekeeping and want either a specific parse or gear.
Think beyond one step; it is a progression of steps. First, you run Normal dungeons, then you run Heroics, and after that, you are now geared enough for a group’s unneeded and stupid requirements to actually let you run in their Naxx25.
This is the thing people are trying to stop, this fixation with arbitrary and unneeded gatekeeping. You and I both know that anyone in quest gear can go into Naxx without a problem, but groups right now will flat-out deny you because they are a gluten-for-choice and will take anyone else rather than you.
So now you are forced to run heroics so that you can compete with everyone else.
Maybe, but it is still a term being thrown around the forums right now to belittle people and name-calling. Maybe you do not mean it that way, but other people in these forums use it specifically to insult people.
My apologies if that was not your intent, but after you have seen it and been called it so many times, you get rather tired of seeing it.

This is the same with every expansion…the Vacationers are gone and its doomsday when in reality this is the actual number for the community. game doesnt require 14million+ to be sustainable. it will pick up with ICC and if they eventually decide on cata or not.
Uh… Stormpeak and Icecrown quests… you new? You get like 140 badges from doing them and some really good blues. You can also craft or buy crafted gear by farming matts or gold. You do not need to step into a single heroic.

This is your problem. You’re trying to randomly just join groups instead of making your own or joining a guild. You want to put zero effort into the game and want geared people to keep logging on to run you through dungeons. Your analogy is the same. No one is going to take you to dungeons if they aren’t going to take you to raids.
This is a you problem. You can’t figure out how the game works.
