Anyone know the swirling instance portal in Stormwind ? is it unfinished dungeon for SW area ? or a raid zone for SW ?
it was supposed to be the instanced player housing iirc

Rose is right. It was player housing and they abandoned that. Closest they’ve come was garrisons but that ended up being something everyone hated but still stood around in the damn things for a year without venturing out.

If I recall there is actually 2, one between the trade district and old town on that wall, and then one that mirrored Stockades.
If I’m remembering correctly the first was intended to be for player housing but never used. The additional one that mirrored stockades was supposed to be another dungeon or raid and was never done.

Wat? How can it be #nochanges if they add changes? I’d totally support a new dungeon/raid in SW, but not in Classic. This is the kind of thing that has created a lot of excitement for Classic+, along with Uldum and Karazhan, regardless of how realistic that enthusiasm is.

The second one is the other garrison in the middle of the canals, opposite stockades. It was going to be called “The Vault” and was later implemented in an alternative form in Wrath as The Violet Hold.

Actually there are two unused instance portals in stormwind. The large one you can see was for player housing and the other was the stormwind vault. The area is blocked off by a gate but the portal is still there.
If you stand there long enough, and stare at it, a clown starts talking to you.
