Unfair and annoying system in PVP

I’m doing solo with my mage, since my score was 500 and the system keeps putting me in groups with guys who are already at 1800. I’m the only one in the group with a low score and I can’t get any because I started doing pvp as a mage today, I had stopped at the end of DF and came back now.

You always begin placement matches at 1800 MMR. You never start at 0 MMR. After placement matches you even out with your CR (unless you’re still climbing)

Sadly, I think groups shouldn’t have more than 200 points of difference between participants.

It’s mmr not cr. Your mmr is usually within that range of each other

You should be thankful.

It means when you go 4-2 6-0 you’ll jump up 400-500 points a lobby until your CR catches up to your MMR.

As long as you stay positive. You’ll end up like 2k-2100 within 5-6 lobbies

I just got 400 points lol, pure luck. But I think it’s unfair, because I get into matches where players are much better than me -.-

Its not pure luck its the CR vs MMR Difference

When you crater your MMR you have problems and hit a wall. Game starts you at 1800mmr

you go 0-6 Now your below starting mmr level and contiously deflating. The quality of game degrades the lower you go with the experience of players.

Now your in 1500MMR lobbies where people don’t press any buttons, notice healer in CC. Most healers just rolled this toon and have no clue how to play. Now your dying 10 seconds into a game and complaining here and your only escape from this gutter is to carry yourself out.

Now you see why going positive at 1800 and keeping it up is a good thing?

Only now did I understand how this system works. It’s… it’s not unfair. Ty.

Focus on improving, getting cc/following it up. Watching for your healers CC status and trading your defensives as needed. Also look for high value counterspells.

Stick to that and stay above the starting MMR. I assure you life as a mage far below the average MMR gets painful quick unless you can play on a high level and 1v6 the lobby.

Average/inexperienced Mage with new healers = dooooooooomed 0-6 all day. Think about how long you will survive as a mage vs hunters/ele/warlock with a healer FAR below starting MMR of 1800.

If you haven’t already I highly suggest SkillCapped ingame addon with all its weakauras/ui. Great way to set yourself up for success early on since atleast you’ll have the information on your screen that you need.

Being undergeared and inexperienced on a spec and doing shuffle is hard right now. On my spriest the first lobby was 1800mmr and people seem new to their spec with some of us in all greens. I go 5-1. Next lobby is 2100 mmr with everyone fully geared and 300 games deep into pushing on their spec. I go 1-5 lol.

It’s a very odd place to be in due to where the initial mmr and player skill intersect due to inflation. I’ve decided to not win more than 3 games on new alts until I am fully geared with my free 1600 piece.

almost every player who has more game time with their class is going to be better than you though, just face it. it sucks being new but you’re going to struggle no matter what. don’t look at the numbers at all because they won’t be in your favor for a while anyways. just improve
