Understanding Melee Damage / Weapon Damage

Hello,

I just starting leveling a warrior and I’m trying to understand the basics of how the damage of certain abilities is calculated. I thought I understood it but Mortal Strike is dealing more damage than Heroic Strike but my math says Heroic Strike should be dealing more damage. Please explain my error. Here is my math:

Assumptions:
Melee Damage: 169-217
Weapon Damage: 87-131
Speed: 2.8
DPS: 38.9

Mortal Strike = Weapon Damage + 85
Mortal Strike = (87+131)/2 + 85
Mortal Strike = 194

Heroic Strike (R5) = Melee Damage + 58
Heroic Strike (R5) = (169+217)/2 + 58
Heroic Strike (R5) = 251
