I’ve been playing for a couple months now and have never been in an active guild. However I’m a little confused on how guilds work. I see a lot of people on the forums posting guilds but realm is not so obvious. Dont you have to be on the same realm to run a lot of content with guilds or even join in the first place? My goal is to find a guild I can just get a group together easier and maybe have a discord to run M+ dungeons with and other things like mog runs but I feel it’s not too obvious when looking on the forums to find a good medium to large sized guild to join
Not necessarily, you can join them via /invite (they would have to invite you to run the content) or if by using the group finder.
Yes, to join a guild you would need to be in the same realm, or in the same connected realms network.
In your case, you can join a guild in any of these realms: Azgalor, Azshara, Blood Furnace, Destromath, Mannoroth, Nazjatar and Thunderlord.
You can check your connected realms in this article.
You could check the profile of the people posting the ad. The realm will be displayed on their armory link, right below their name and class.
I’d check tradechat ingame, recruiting guilds usually spam that chat whenever they’re recruiting.
You can also use the guild finder feature ingame, and browse the guilds by size.
Check Raider.io, recruiting guilds will have a tiny icon that you can mouse over, with the details of what they need. Even if you don’t want to raid with them, it will be an indicator of their activity, and they can be open to take you in for m+ and other activities.
Check WoWprogress.com. Guilds can add recruitment info to their profile.
Pay attention to what guilds people are in when you’re out and about doing your stuff. I usually just take a look around Oribos or Zereth Mortis and check on other people’s guilds.
Once you find one that looks promising, use the command /who g-"name of the guild" (with quotes) to check how many members are online at that given time, preferably during the time frame you want to run guild content. That will give you an idea of how active they are.
Good luck!
