Underpin ?(?) Just impossible

Yes, i know ‘some people have killed him’ but it comes down to having a mix of absurd skill and dumb luck.

Issues I am running into. Doing it as Veng DH. Can self sustain through all but 1 shots. Can do enough dps to his shield…IF i can hit it.

Boss can, and frequently will, leap into the aoe of his bombs, no matter how far away they have been kicked. If he happens to hit a shield phase at the same time, just resets.

Adds will randomly spawn on the other end of the area. I learned early on you can hug the wall to force them all to spawn on that side…issue is that ‘side’ seems to be a bit…massive. I’ll have 2 spawn at one end and 4 the opposite direction…forcing me to kick a bomb 3-4x to get to the mechs. All while dodging and dpsing to keep myself up…
(Footnote after many more attempts: There appears to always still be a chance for the adds to spawn on the other side of the area. May be because Brann is in the middle…
His mechanics can overlap in impossible ways. Adds spawn while shield phase makes it nearly impossible to hit him. Bombs spawn in the oil slick making them impossible to kick at the adds…

this fight is just DUMB. But to add insult to injury, we get useless Brann trolling. What is he doing while i’m doing all this? He’s standing in the middle of the arena with all his little mechanical dinos just looking at me. He keeps glitching out and running back to the middle, as well as his pets, and doing nothing…
When he does fight, he picks a random target, even if that is his own egg. (Never understood why that is targetable anyway) and if there’s any adds up…or his egg…he wont help with shield phase at all.

This fight is not fun in anyway. This makes me want to delete your game blizzard.

cute…but blizzard wont let me add two question marks in a row for some reason…It must be offensive to someone. I’m pretty sure you can afk through normal difficulty…

Ilvl doesn’t even matter when the mechanics hit for tens of millions…like i said i can easily break his shield IFFFFFFF i can get to him. When he leaps across the arena and into his bombs there’s nothing you can do.

I’ve done it with multiple classes, at various ilvls and always run into the same issues. (except when i tried boomy, i could kill his shield from outside range of bombs…but i didnt have the self heals and brann is useless as a healer…so that worked less.

First shield is at like 80-81%? Then it’s on a 1min timer.

Adds I think are on a 1min timer (except first one or two?)

For best results, you can try slowing down at 83-84%, wait for adds, kill adds, get him to 80% and deal with shield. That should lessen the overlap if you do it right.

Do adds at the “corner” then move to the next, doing all 4.

I think the oil comes from blowing up his shield? Try not to move too much until the oil stops

I believe in you OP. Get a few more practice runs in and get the mechs down pat before going in for the kill.

Ilvl matters in many ways. No it won’t trivialize the fight, but it will definitely help. The main place it helps is when he’s shielded and you can’t melee him due to bombs. You’ll get your chance at some point, but having better gear means you’ll be able to break his shield in a shorter timespan.

I don’t really know much about DH, but on my warrior, I was able to self sustain and use brann as DPS. That was a lot easier than using a healer.

Unfortunately, unlike zekvir, I don’t think there’s a way to fully control this encounter. There will always be some bad ability overlap that creates a real challenge. You’ll just have to do your best.

In case it’s helpful, here’s a page where a guy does Underpin?? on 15 different specs, mostly in the 630s and 640s iLvl.

I believe that Underpin is a skill and understanding fight. I say that not as a person who can do it yet, but given how consistently some people can beat it, even with low iLvl gear, I don’t know how I could conclude otherwise.

You’d be right. Essentially ilvl does make it faster but low ilvl just means you’d do the same thing for longer and be able to get away with less.

Great channel by the way, I’m impressed by his ability. I’ve only been successful on Paladin and DK and I think largely due to how sturdy those specs are (and that they have a tank spec).

I’m not sure if you’re asking for help or just commiting to the ‘it’s impossible’ bit.

It’s not impossible. It’s really hard, it’s kinda finnicky, tanks have it way easier for no reason, but it can be done.

This doesn’t…ever happen? He’ll jump to Brann sometimes but he’ll never jump on his own bombs. That said, why are there bombs if there are adds up? I know tanks need about two less overall than DPS to down adds but that shouldn’t cause any issues.

If this does happen, I never seen it, but if it does, just…stop DPSing him for a bit. If he shields during a bomb then that’s unfortunate but just eating a bomb while it’s going off isn’t the way about it.

No, they will spawn near you. If you’re near the entrance or if there’s corpses in the way of where they will spawn, they will spawn in some other location. You just need to keep rotating around the arena and give a wide berth to corpses. You have a lot of room to work with, and the corpses do eventually despawn.

Slap on Grenade and Bio-Matrix, dinos are finnicky for the fight. Those two are guaranteed to work: Grenade is unconditional damage and Matrix is real handy when adds go down.

Like I said, it’s hard, but it’s doable. If I can do it, anyone can. And, yes, your Ilvl does matter. More damage, more quickly shield dies, you can scrap an add at low HP when a bomb just isn’t possible, you have HP to survive eating an orb should you get tagged by one. It helps a lot, actually.

When i read about the title i thought it would be something i’d have a decent crack at, i killed ? no major problems, but after trying ?? for a bit i have accepted that either I’m just not up to that kind of challenge anymore from a skill standpoint, or maybe I’m just being stubborn about not wanting to download certain addons to get around the flaws in the encounter design.

My hat goes off to the people that did it, i guess i just don’t care enough about the title in order to jump through the hoops and torture myself to that extent :joy:

It isn’t really something to get upset and make threads about, either you have it in you or you don’t, maybe it’s just your time to care a little less about things. Trust me, when you start to take a carefree stance on the game, it’s very hard to get upset about anything (poor encounter design, over tuning, bugs or w/e).

If you’re after the title, you can party up with others for it! That will give the title, but the solo achievement and skin will remain locked off.

I have no idea how i was able to beat him myself. Felt like i was pounding my head into a wall for a while. Playing tank with dps brann helped a lot. Tried doing it as arms/fury but 1 screwup was pretty much a wipe.

Also what level is your brann? And for add spawns, the boss has to hug the wall with you to get them to spawn. If a corpse of an add is too close they spawn further away.

Brann would regularly cause wipes cause the boss would leap to him right before an add phase for me.

Edit: also keybind your interact button if you havent, makes dealing with the bombs way easier.

Only thing l get annoyed with this fight is bomb mechanic. Boss get on the bomb that you’re trying to put but can’t able to click it or seeing what direction that trying to aim.
