This fight is ridiculous. It doesn’t matter how much gear I throw at it, the adds are a mess. I spend the whole fight trying to kick footbombs into the adds while trying not to get obliterated by all the crap on the ground. How did we go from a boss that spawns 1 add in S1 to a boss in S2 that spawns 5 adds that constantly launch fireballs at you?
I also don’t wanna hear about how your 5 yo nephew did it or to do it as a tank. This fight is mechanically a disaster.
This is the entire fight, even if you’re gear capped. Get either the Goblomagnetic grenade or the mechanosaurs for the combat curio and run the bioprinter for the utility one.
Bait the adds by baiting the boss leap, run Prot spec so you only need to kick 2 bombs and can self sustain, blow wings on the shields, deal with adds, avoid puddles, and focus on not dying while running between the 4 corners of the room between add sets.
You’ve got access to a tank spec. Tanks have a joke of a time on this. It took me like 5 tries on my blood DK with 20 less ilvl. It took me 3 hours on my 662 rogue that I’ve been playing for 5 years and could play nearly blindfolded at this point.
RNG variance in the bomb spawns means the act of kicking 1 less bomb per add is the difference between being lethal and a joke, plus being tanky you can half ignore his autos and self sustain.
Gonna have to agree with Ryuki.
Gave up with my Arms warrior after 40+ tries and switched to Prot. Did it in 3 attempts.
The problem with attempting this fight as DPS is that avoiding the mechanics and dealing with bombs is on YOU which keeps you from attacking the Underpin efficiently. Doing it as a tank, you can focus solely on mechanics/bombs while Brann has 100% uptime on the Underpin. Assist Brann with DPS during the shield break and enjoy the win.
Oh, I was at my limit on the last pull. A mix of good patience, some cursing to a friend who was watching the endeavor on a stream, and pure determination to get it done.
Told myself I was good enough to do it pre nerf, and just needed to get through the BS RNG design. Took 3 hours to get a lineup that wasn’t RNG hell.
I’m running out of ‘ain’t that a kick in the head’ things to post.
Thinking on it, while running a heroic last night I forgot Motherload had the bomb kicking mechanic. It was trying to prep us all this time, and it was also goblin related.
It’s rough. As mentioned, doing what you can with the kick and migrating all the nonsense that occurs is key. Sometimes a bomb can plop right in the middle of an oil spill and you’re having to dodge a flamethrower and molten cannons while aiming up a shot. Sometimes you just lose.
It’s a kick in the head, alright.
Think it took me 6? 7? Maybe 10? I lost track. Granted this was after the MM rework so had to play differently, also was attempting it when Brann was sucking dirt 30 seconds after the fight starts which made it literally impossible. Sadly had to spend a bit with that being a factor since I wasn’t sure if it was intentional design or not.
I did about an hour of attempts in the first week after clearing 11’s. Brann getting 1 shot by a jump he refused to leave had me staring at him in disbelief every pull.
Congrats on getting it though, anyone who gets it on a DPS/Healer before the nerfs truly understands how stupid this design is.
Seriously, if people have a tank spec, just swap to it. It’s a night and day experience.
“Let’s try some harder hitting moves!” Yeah like how about the wild and wacky move of HOLDING D ON YOUR KEYBOARD BRANN?! You thought about trying that hot trick?!
I’m not doing it until the end of the season unless Blizz does something about the Underpin’s model blocking the bombs. I’ll even accept them coming out and saying that it’s intended as a ‘mechanic’ for this to be happening. I won’t really like to hear that, but until either of those things happen I’m assuming it’s unintentional and not touching it until it’s addressed.
You can use the interact key and it stops mattering though. Like interact will literally just kick the bomb if you’re near it, you don’t even need to place your mouse.
They could, but I suspect they’re going to nerf crony health by 20% give the bombs more duration on the ground, reduce the size of the shield and probably nerf his hp.
I killed this last night on a 662 Enhancement Shaman. On my kill attempt, if you’re in the entrance, I pulled the boss to the “bottom left” where the arena begins to curve and 3x of the very first set of adds spawned on the opposite side of the entrance despite plenty of space being available - I found this type of thing to be the most irritating to deal with. The strat that I used was to basically pull him against the wall so that bombs are close - as soon as adds spawn, you should be able to shotgun them down with the available bombs and then immediately run towards any distant mobs. The boss will then leap to that area and spawn a 2nd set of bombs prior to the next set of adds. Sometimes, it’s worth keeping a singular add up as well as keeping a bomb or two available if possible - the boss will spawn more adds in that area if you’re near so you should be able to nuke them down immediately. While the adds can often spawn on the opposite side of the arena, you kinda really need to game your bomb placement - it’s probably the best advice I can give.
For Brann, I had him set as healer with 3/4 Bioprint and 2/4 Mechasaur - My Brann is level 48.
Yeah, it’s an assumption based on previously historical evidence of this stuff.
Mage tower even got hit with flat nerfs in Legion, and by the end of the xpac was a joke. Zekvir was nerfed enough times to be trivial by the end of the tier. They sort of have a history of “Release overtuned solo challenge, make it an accessible joke by the last 2 weeks.”
