I have a great time in 11.1. Fun and enjoyable characters, quests and zone. Of course I can’t forget to mention the amazing soundtrack. But the fight against the corrupted goblin leader and liberation of the city is the last thing I expected in World soul saga. We are in the process of reaching the core of Azeroth and the patch theme seems out of place. I have a theory why I feel this way.
I consider Udermine to be a new Goblin starting zone who we supposed to get after The last Titan moved to TWW. World rework seems to be quietly in the works for years. But why would they change the entire patch? For quite a long time Blizzard has been criticized for neglecting the Horde content. Goblin City was supposed to calm things down a bit. So who really should fix Dark Heart? Eternals. They were supposed to get 11.1 first. We see in Northrend many Eternals following Xal’atath. They’re the ones who should repair the Heart and then be robbed.
I’m not against this change, I think the writers did a pretty good job of changing the concept. (if I’m not mistaken, of course. These are just my thoughts, they don’t have to be right)
Although Undermine technically fits the theme of a journey to the center of the earth, we had the opportunity to go to various more fitting in overall narrative places like Beledar, Rootlands, the bottom of Coreway, The undersea and now K’haresh, places which most of we received hints and foreshadowing throughout the expansion.
There is only one major patch left, I don’t know how Blizzard is going to take us to the rest of these places in such a short time.
I think this ia the best place to put undermine as its an expansion all about being underground. Im starting to think people are either upset it was a whole xpansion in itself or just dont like the goblin theme complaining.
Honestly, I’ve had this theory that the goblins are going to do something catastrophically stupid and cause Beledar to fall into the Undersea, which with knowing what we’re doing next patch with the Renilash worshippers, makes sense to me.
All I know is we better have a boss in the upcoming raid like in Ulduar where we are riding on a Goblin drill through the world to get to the core like the train, and maybe a boss on it as well?
I’ve been curious about this. Did we know Goblins did this before the current patch? I know the one journal you can find mentions it but was there a source prior to that? I’m just wondering if this was a lore point they added because Goblins were already the theme of the patch or not.
It follows the lore from 2011 in cata. We already knew the goblins made the dragon soul back then, we know the dark heart was a prototype of the dragon soul. Logically it means goblins made the prototype before finishing the final product. This patch just confirms that theory.
We’re going to most of those places eventually, more than likely. They dropped Harranir stuff just recently, so it’s likely that we will get more of them later, and they will probably become a playable race given their skeleton is compatible with player armor and they have a lot of customizations.
The patch seems kind of a filler patch to me. Not really advancing the main story in any meaningful way and just dropping hints of things to come. Normally this wouldnt be a problem to me but the expansion as a whole doesnt really have a ton going on to begin with so its starting to feel like the writers are stalling hoping for a great story to fall in their lap.
