Undermine is the best raid since Nathria

It’s a masterclass in themeing. Every fight captures to wackiness of Undermine. Right from the start, having Vexie run over newcomers or people who forget about her, is an amazing first impression. Every boss has something super memorable about them (“Rika-rika-rika- Rik Reverb!”) and a lot of them have mechanics that integrate perfectly with the stage (Mug’zee is my favorite).

Nerubar Palace was pretty good, but man, Undermine is one raid I’ll look back on years from now with an epic sense of nostalgia.

OP, I agree, the raid is pretty great. I just want to share a joke at my own expense: I initially read the title as “Undermine is the best raid since Narnia” and thought: “Wot” :dracthyr_lulmao: Though I suppose one could make that argument as well if they really wanted to. Anyhow, from the race, it looks like those who seek it are having a proper challenge this tier.

Per usual, the art team carries.
Everything else about Undermine(d) is Undercooke(d)

Burnt into my heart like Castle Nathria, Nighthold and Ulduar

Undermine has the worst color scheme in recent raid history, with all the neon flashy dynamite light bomb to your face.

Nathria had style, undermine is a total mess and didn’t even bother because I don’t care about the characters or story and it feels lame being there.

I agree. Honestly, I think they did good with the difficulty on a large chunk of the fights too, and I like the theme as a whole. Heroic Mug’Zee is probably one of my favorite raid bosses of all time, even with the wipes on it being a tad frustrating.

I do hope they learn something from the enrage-rush phase on that fight. That a small amount of controlled-chaos that can be worked around amounts to a ton of enjoyment and proper tension. Forcing players to recognize that the ice-spikes needed to hit bombs was a great bait-and-switch at the last minute, and the massive pile of bombs dropping just before the hard enrage essentially being a visual warning for you to clean it up was beautiful.

It’s great. It’s like fighting against a bunch of italian mob gangster engineering psychos.

This I agree with. The raid is comical and funny. However, I don’t particularly care about the story or goblins in general and the overall theme is getting eyeroll inducing pretty quick. Goblins are so over the top cartoony they are really only charming in small doses. A whole season of this is going to get pretty annoying before too long.

This whole xpac just feels like a filler episode.

The One Armed Bandit fight feels straight out of Cuphead. So good.

I love when you read the map that one of the areas towards the end of the raid is called The Back Room. One of my favorite things about this game is all the different references there are.

Love the voice lines for this fight

Undermine looked like it took its tier armor from another raid. If I had to look at this gear and guess where it came from, the goblin casino raid would be my last guess.

Has there been a X.1 patch that was as good as Liberation of Undermine? I’m struggling to remember.

This patch is way better than 10.1, 9.1, and 8.1.

Does this comment even say anything? Everything since Nathria has been downbad, and usually the phrase “best since X” usually means that it is below X as well.

Yes, we all know Retail is bad.

Sounds fun! I saw a behind-the-scenes they did on it that looked really cool. Just too bad my item level is too low and gear I need never drops or is offered in any world quests. I got a iLevel 623 from that 20-wave thing but still only iLevel 591. Dungeons…delves, no item drops. Just valor stones but I’m still in i584 Season 1 gear that can’t be upgraded anyways because they turned that off. By the time I get all the gear I need, it will be Season 3 or 4. :person_facepalming:
