Talking about S.C.R.A.P. and Surge Pricing. Both could be fun but currently are suffering from a variety of issues that are making them frustrating and borderline unplayable.
S.C.R.A.P.:
-The hazards occur too often. Frequently you only get 1 or 2 shovel scoops in before you are interrupted.
-Clicking on the pile is unresponsive, and when combined with the lag in the zone and the hazard interrupts can be super frustrating.
-There is too much visual clutter, especially when a lot of people are there spamming aoe. Can be difficult to see what you need to click on.
-Bombs can bug out and become uninteractable in some locations
-Small numbers of players are at a big disadvantage to full raid groups in being able to fill the bar. Will only be a bigger problem later in the patch.
-Gallagio Garbage spawns seem too rare in a “this isn’t fun” kind of way. The mount drop is already pretty low… I haven’t actually seen one drop despite farming this thing for probably 8 hours so far in a full raid group. If the drop rate is going to be that low, the mob should spawn more frequently. The current double RNG doesn’t fit with the goal of respecting players’ time.
Surge Pricing:
-The progress bar always disappears before the event is actually over
-There is no obvious indication that the event actually ended
-Criteria for receiving a box is unclear. It’s not enough to simply participate, as I’ve done so several times but received nothing.
-150 points still seems too high for this event. I’ve tried several times on full pop servers to do this event today, but I don’t think we ever got there (can’t be certain because of bullet #1)
-IMO we need to be able to do this event in a raid group so people who want the reward can group up on one shard. Having to rely on the general server population who might be doing other things is not enough.
Hoping that some or all of these things can be addressed soon! I want to enjoy this zone but these 2 events are making it difficult at the moment.
This pretty much, alot of people (myself included) just HATE the DRIVE mount. Cant contribute alot when you are using your 100% speed ground mount to each point.
They need to add flying to the zone hopefully by 11.1.5.
Still needs tuning, I think they overtuned it on their last hotfix the other day.
All of this is 100% spot on.
SCRAP mostly suffers from visual issues (green bags mostly) and the bombs bugging out on the golf course 1/3 of the time, ending the progress. That and Gallagio is too rare, to then hit you with more RNG. 7hrs today to see 4 spawns, 3 mounts, full raids. More frequent Gallagio spawns is an INCENTIVE to keep going. Right now, it could be 3hrs (my first of the day) or 30min (my 4th of the day). Even this out.
I gave up on Surge - never made a dent, nobody is doing it. Needs some TLC.
One issue with SCRAP is that it scales in difficulty, but some players don’t actually contribute besides digging. So you get a few hustlers trying to do everything, and others just wanting to only dig.
And this is when participation is at its maximum, being new content, but without Season 2 (Raid / M+ / PvP) having officially started to compete for people’s time.
If it’s flopping already during THIS week, the overworld content needs some serious adjustments.
Low pop server here, I actually have no idea what surge pricing is.
I do scrap alone, nearly 100%, but am not really sure what they are for. You pay the robot $100 to dig, which he does sometimes. Then you kill the mobs, stand in blue circle and try to hit 1-2 of the garbage piles and wait for the timer to run down and get a crate. Sometimes you can click click click on the pile and it may dig for a couple seconds, but most of the time its either not lit or you are being attacked.
I just checked my progress and noticed after doing 17 S.C.R.A.P. events. I now have a total of 379 cans. I pay the robot 100 gold each time and I get around 22 cans per event.
To get the 999 to buy 1 prize crate will take around 45 events and $4500 in gold!!!
I should have done the math earlier…
I still have no idea what Surge Pricing is. I have done a few of the caddy caller 0/10, but a lo of times they bug out and you have to quit and start over after it stops updating (stand on circle with it telling you to stand on circle…). As far as I could tell, you get nothing for doing these other than flavor.
It does a few things. You get a currency by shoveling you can use to get some items from a vendor, that includes a pack that can drop a mount or crests. If you fill the meter to 500 there is a chance for a rare to spawn that also drops a mount, and gear. There’s some transmog items that drop when shoveling. Valorstones also drop from the chest. There’s quite a bit attached to them.
