And yet more stealth nerfs by our old friend Blizzard. Underlight Angler’s swim speed increase goes away in combat now. I guess with all the potions of swim speed, the classes that can walk on water, instant mounting from druids, etc; a multi hour grind on an old fishing pole to give swim speed increase needed to go?
And I guess after the water strider fiasco Blizzard was too scared to even comment that it was happening.

This change is so unbelievably insipid that it makes my eyes squint.
Why did this need to get nerfed?

Some players didn’t grind for the fishing pole, therefore it’s not fair for someone to have an advantage someone else has. This is what happens when people scream about wanting everything equal, the group that works is punished to satisfy the lazy and bring everyone back to the same level.

Anything to slow players down.

I want to believe that some Blizzard developer was not happy they didn’t have complete immunity while PvPing near water on their Druid, since other classes could use the fishing pole and maybe give them a bit of a challenge by not letting the Druid have complete and free reign of the waters.
But, yeah, really annoying change.
That’s sad to hear. I love the Underlight Anger, it was just a really fun thing to have.
I’m honestly surprised it lasted this long. I used it mostly for water walk in travel form, but I got 3 of them for my other classes too.
I loved swapping it while on my mount and watching how it churned out bubbles. It made going anywhere near water suck a little bit less.
I mean really, if us players are going to these lengths to obtain items just for their little perks maybe it’s time for the designers to rethink how unnecessarily obnoxious some aspects of the game are.
Edit: thinking about it, it’s probably in preparation for the underwater raid boss they talked about. If the fishing pole adds a combat advantage blizzard probably doesn’t want guilds forcing their members to farm it.

Probably the same person that nerfed Aviana’s Feather and didn’t tell anyone.

Heard of shimmerscale diving suit?
I hope it wasn’t done just for a single boss as that would make it even stupider. They could just have a specific debuff for that boss to stop it and similar effects or maybe make it not function in the raid zone at all. Something they would probably have to do anyway so all guilds aren’t forced to farm the Shimmerscale Diving Suits for all of their members.
Sad to hear this… I constantly used this as a get out of jail free card in war mode whenever I was at a disadvantage in warmode pvp… oh well.
Are you shocked?
This is same crew that thought water striders were OP and needed a nerf.

wonder how long before they yoink the underwater breathing on my kalu’ak fishing pole. the only reason i carry one nowadays is for panic weapon switching when i notice i am about to drown
I noticed this the other day as well and it really got on my nerves. I’m tired of working for things that give my player an advantage only to have them nerfed the following expansion. My brain can’t fathom why people at Blizz make some of these choices. It’s fkn irritating. HERE’S TO HOPING IT IS JUST A BUG HAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAA
I was begging to suspect something like this happened.
I would like to see a documented announcement about such things in the future Blizz. Those of us with that Pole spent some time unlocking said traits and I’ll never get that back.
So if your going to change it please keep us posted. I love that fishing pole, by and large best looking one in the game for sure. Least my opinion.
What happened to that pole being used in BFA? Or Updated for BFA? Or Relevant in BFA?
Edit to say it also takes you out of the fish form as well. So no water breathing or speed. This is a terrible change indeed. Game breaking no but 100% Fun detected.
