Has anyone tried to get the the Bigger Fish to Fry in the last few months/weeks? Everything that I find seems out of date. The most notable thing in all the videos (most recent are about a year old) is the fact that once you get the rare bait, it’s supposed to be 100% rare fish drop rate. This is not the case anymore. I have spend about 6 arcane lures and got one Rusty Queenfish Brooch, followed a video on how to get the Ghostly Queenfish and… nothing. I did it twice following a video that was 2 years old and haven’t been able to try the location of the video 1 year old specifically for this fish.
The other thing is the locations of where to fish. I’m fairly new to the game and I’ve realised that Blizzard nerfs good farming spots within a few months (and other lucrative things that have been found lol), so I’m completely lost as to how to fish and continue to get professions up faster. Any advice/tips are appreciated.

Do the daily Fisher Friends quests. They occur in each zone and I believe that Wowhead lists them on their front page still. You should get the rare fish while farming the rep for the friends.

Thanks I didn’t know that was there, but I did watch another Vid by Hazel back from 7.3 =/ and there are no longer any pugs or “Today in Broken Isles” on wowhead (?) so this seems to be another brick wall =/ looked at all world quests - nothing. I dont have flying, so…
One other noteworthy aspect of trying to get the Fishing Rod…
Bigger Fish To Fry is an account-wide achievement that is not actually account-wide.
Once completed on one character, it can no longer be properly tracked in the Achievement/Quest Objectives frame by other characters who have not completed it. Also the most recent patches have broken the one add-on that made tracking it on a non-cancer situation.
No clue why Blizz won’t just make it not account-wide since the only thing that cares about it, The Underlight Angler, ignores the achievement’s account-wide status and requires it be completed on an individual character basis.

I Did it for my wife took less then 3 hours to get the pole and unlock the water walking fish form and aggro. This was about a month ago.
Arcane lures, and buy any of the special Baits from the AH if you can.
^ Well since this post was Oct and you did this in November, maybe they fixed the lures for you because I was getting F all, but 8 of the same damn fish.
I thought all achievements were account wide and others are under that impression as well. What a bug. I don’t think anybody really enjoys fishing, so why make it so incredibly difficult?
I might try again now that someone has gotten the artifact recently.
I am pretty sure this never was the case, it just increases your chances of getting rare fish.
It said in the very very old and few and far between how-to videos. It was the bait that was rare, not the fish itself. shrugs but it seems that both are just as rare these days. Will try again sigh spent 2 hours on it already, time I will never get back.
I did this twice in legion. I have no idea why a video would say that when I don’t believe it ever was the case.
2 hours is nothing to invest in that. It probably took well over a hundred to fully level that.
That was never the case except for Ghostly Queenfish and the Oodelfjisk. But those fish only come from their own pools which are separate from all other pools and their special pools only become visible once you use the lure.

I got the Underlight Angler back in September or so I think. I followed a guide that had been posted on Wowhead and it took about 5 hours in total from start to completion.
When I did it, I only ever had to use one of the rare lures to catch the fish. I never had an instance of having to catch multiple rare lures to get the fish, so maybe they patched it?
What do you consider completion. You get the fishing pole or you complete all the ranks ?
Personally I don’t consider it worthwhile to get all the points since most of them only applied to legion fish, but with 650 ap you could unlock water walking, swim speed and reduced aggro range.
I don’t know how long it too, but I considered it done when I got the swimming, walk on water and aggro ability. The swim speed is something I still use to this day.
I agree right now it isn’t, just wondering if they somehow reduced the total time to complete everything but looking it up they say 3-4 hours just to get the rod.
Just acquiring the fishing pole
