Soooo, i’m genuinely curious here. why do people undercut when the AH sells the newest auction first. Why not just cancel your 8 hour old auction and repost at current price? All you’re doing is ruining the market and screwing yourself out of future gold. If it’s currently selling for say 100g per today, you undercut to 75, the next undercutter goes down to 50 and then down to 5…You all have effectively made it pointless to farm/sell whatever that item is. now what are you going to make/sell since you’ve screwed that market?
I understand we have bots flooding the raw goods market. but, crafted items… recipes etc. there is literally no need to undercut.
and before you all come in and say “quick sale” re-read the first part where the newest auction sells first. so cancel your 8 hour old auction and repost it at current price don’t undercut or if your posting it for the first time, dont bother undercutting.

From what i can understand of general. The combined reasons are
“I dont know how the ah work” but they wont admit this.
And
“I just dont care, i dont wanna play the ah game. I have a life”.

I think that the game tells you but people still don’t know and just randomly give up 20-50% of their potential gold for no reason. It’s weird. They both sell instantly.

i can see #1. but #2 “dont wanna play the AH game” it takes more effort to undercut than it does to just right click in the item in and hit post :X

I undercut people I don’t like to irritate them.
And I’ll keep doing it after they buy my undercut item with a brand new same item and sell it again.
Do people send me nasty messages? Yep! Then I report them and make some kind of joke about how their mailbox will be filled with their failed sales while they are banned because I’m going to keep undercutting them…
Then I call into work the next day so I can monitor the sales and ensure they make none.

I don’t “play” the AH, I want my crap to sell and it be over. I don’t want to post, cancel, repost… You buy my undercut and repost it. You get to make gold off my impatience and I walk away with what I wanted.

well, because when there are all of a sudden 8600 posts of said item at this now undercutted rate, i cant exactly afford to buy all 8600 and repost and reset the market. everything i was makin gold off of now sells for 5-28g each instead of 100g-2000g. Only thing that’s survived so far is the awakened orders.
It’s how I have my addon set up. And lowering prices makes me happy.

I undercut by if I am looking to get mine pushed out asap. By how much depends on the item I am pushing and how much I need to gold for whatever I am doing.
It means that the other people who are selling might be incentivized to buy my garbage as well so they can sell my trash and their own.

That’s the hand of the market. this is basic economics. if an item is stockpiling at a said price, the price needs to be lowered. so someone will undercut and go to bed, this ensures that they will probably sell without having to relist. someone will always undercut
