Alright, I’ve noticed lately that there’s a lot of trade goods from current expac being undercut by like 100g so they can snipe others that aren’t paying attention. I thought that you couldn’t undercut trade goods like this?
You can undercut anything. If youre selling all the new ore at 1000g a piece of course i would come in and sell for 100g a piece. Ive yet to start collecting but no one ever said you had to charge what everyone else does if you’re selling cheaper youre making more money thats how auctions and stuff work
If we are both selling 2 of the exact same challengers a piece, and youre charging 45k and im doing 40k. 99% of the time both mine will sell first
Using TSM it is possible to manipulate the market. Put up a few bismuth ores for say, 3g each. Wait a few second for fools to post without paying attention, then run snipe to grab a few hundred bismuth for 3g each, far cheaper than around 60g each normally.
I’ve looked at TSM long ago but it’s a pain in the rear to get started and I don’t play AH much for gold making, I just buy what I need and leave. I do wish Blizzard implemented throttle system for TSM to slow down players from scanning and sniping as AH has been running real slow and I keep getting frequent sold out message when I just wanted a few. I am not going to grab 2,000 bismuth ores just to actually win about 50.
lol what world do you live in where undercutting isnt allowed. people will do it no matter what
That’s literally not how math works? 0_o
The 1K units of Rank 1 Bismuth that I’ve sold for an average price of 54 gold per unit total out to about 56K gold. You’d have to sell 5.6K units at a price of 10 gold per unit to match that. As long as the stuff is actually selling at the higher price, then why tank the market?
We’ve had this version of the AH since the end of BfA. You might have a point with the Classic era AH as people are going to look for the cheapest item, but crafting mats, potions, and pretty much any item that stacks has NOT worked like that for years. For items sharing a price, it’s “Last In, First Out.” In laymen’s terms, that means the most recent item to be listed at that price is going to be the first one to be sold. The game even TELLS YOU via a pop up tutorial message that you DO NOT NEED TO UNDERCUT in order to sell items “faster.”
You aren’t moving your stock any quicker if we’re talking ore and the like. All you’re doing is starting a race to the bottom along with everyone else that fails to realize how the current AH has worked for about four years now.
The stuff IS selling at the higher price, especially as stackable items are region wide and everyone with the relevant professions not only has the gold to afford them, but also the need to buy those items.
Why gimp yourself on the amount you can really earn?
And if the argument is “other people can’t afford it” as I’m sure that’s inevitably coming up in an AH debate, then what’s stopping someone else from picking up a crafting profession and taking advantage of the prices so they can make their own gold?
I’m not saying TSM isn’t helping on those sorts of things, but do keep in mind that ore, herbs, and the like are REGION WIDE and have been for quite some time.
It’s less a TSM related issue and more of a “several thousand players are trying to buy it all at the same time” issue. The AH since 8.3 has been designed in a manner that has the lowest priced items moving out first (followed by the LIFO procedure I mentioned in my last post)
When you have a few thousand players all trying to buy the same crap all at once, then TSM is going to provide little to no benefit as the stuff is coming in and going out far too quickly. The only real benefit is going to be TSM ignoring the item if it’s over a certain price (assuming of course someone set it up properly)
Past that? It’s still fighting against a few thousand players all trying to be the first one to buy something that’s leaving the AH as quickly as it’s getting tossed in if that particular posting happens to be the lowest price at that moment.
It’s nice when I find a piece of level 80 gear that I can upgrade for about 300 gold instead of 30,000 because someone listed their level 71 green with the same name at the starting price.
For some, it’s pretty Cutthroat on the auction house, for others it’s just a good deal.
You’re allowed to do that.
But other people are also allowed to buy those 1 stacks that are being sold at undermarket value.
Who has ever said anything about not being able to undercut, sell for 1g, or even give it away? Where are you getting your WoW news? Russia?
You don’t need TSM to do this.
Undercutting is very much allowed.
There’s been a FEW situations that Blizzard has banned people for market manipulation, but that’s no longer really possible with region-wide trade goods.
The cases it happened in were when people would buy out lots of trade goods from the current expac that people couldn’t easily farm, then repost them for an absurd markup and prevent other players from actually managing to do anything unless they paid the ridiculous price or spent hours farming for the stuff.
However, it’s now effectively impossible to buy out the entire trade good stock of the current expansion, because so many people are posting, by the time you shuffle through accounts to do so, (it would take multiple gold caps), the stock is essentially replenished.
And in the few situations it has been possible (like Dracothyst in DF), the prices level out insanely fast because people who arent trying to manipulate know what people are actually willing to pay, and post it at that price.
(The article was even edited to remove mention of punishing people who manipulate the market in that way, as you can see it was edited when they added region wide market lol)
That said, the fact TSM and other addons that allow people to undercut and snipe aren’t banned is ridiculous at this point. They’re pretty much botting. (No, not everyone using TSM, only the ones who use it to undercut and snipe)
Lol…what? You’re complaining because you can’t collude on prices? Competition is what keeps prices in control.
Naw, they’re complaining about the TSM users who list, say, Bismuth Ore, which is 50g, at like 3g. Then use TSM to snipe all of the ore posted after they undercut, so they effectively make a ton of profit from exploiting TSM.
And the fact this is allowed by Blizzard is honestly ridiculous. But eh.
i noticed it too, i try buying those from ppl who sell em for single coin before they can take it back.
Ok, so using bots to exploit a loophole to manipulate the market.
I always price my trade goods 10% below whatever the going price is. Bots buy my stuff the second it hits the AH so they can just repost it at the higher price.
Honestly, anything bought from the AH should be tagged in a way that prevents it from being relisted again.
Man I leave the game for a few expansions and yall still have the same complaints. Oh no, someone doesn’t feel like ripping people off as much as me, please daddy Blizz punish them (they won’t because that’s fine).
You do realize trade goods are region wide
They really need to obliterate that add-on. AH is almost unusable at the moment, because TSM bots are blasting it with non-stop bait scams like OP is describing, and endless cancel scan relists.
auctionator warns you if something is placed really low…
Gotta sell, sell, sell!
