Under populated server concerns

Are there any plans to merge some of the under populated servers together? Currently, servers like mine are seeing a lot of guilds xfer out and same with the servers it’s linked to.

I know there are concerns when linking servers and what not, but at a certain point it becomes needed, right? The game is much more enjoyable when there is a solid community of players actually playing on it.

They did that once before, but who knows if they will do it again.

Yeah, I am curious what their conditions are to finally making the decision to do it.
Also curious if they found issues from doing it before, and maybe that’s why they are hesitant?

I Transferred servers back in legion when horde side Icecrown/Malygos had/still is a dead Mythic raid realm. My advice is to just go ahead and transfer, they are never going to adress dying servers when they are making so much money off of transfers.

I like playing with my friends here. Not all of them want to shell out the money to xfer. So it’s not really happening.
They will always make money off those services. Merging servers shouldn’t effect that.

I thought they expressed interest in doing more realm connections for BfA, but I’ve yet to hear anything about it.

At the end of the day even the initial “merges” when they were brand new were not good enough. There were too few, most of them were still low-medium pop when combined.

I want to say they should ditch the idea of keeping merged servers in the same timezone as that’s probably limiting what they can do too much, but that’s probably something about their actual physical location, yeah? Is it possible to link them together if they’re not in the same place?

I recall them saying something as well, and was greatly saddened when I realized it was just going to be swept under the rug. I currently have 3 servers tied into mine and the population is still low.

It’s sad to see the old guilds die off due to neglect like that. Blizz is shooting itself in the foot.

I’m surprised they stopped doing it, because Earthen Ring (one of my servers) could use a virtual realm or two.

It would be a good idea to close realms and merge them together but i’m sure naming issues would become a big problem.

I would be amazed if they did more merge when they can get all that money from transfers. They also justify having low pop servers because “some people enjoy them”.

I’m on a server connected to 3 other realms. I’m not entirely sure what that means other then a connected Auction House. It’s a new player server but it really feels like I see a lot of people in zones. At least enough people that someone steals my target and I have to give the sad shoulder slump of dissapointment. Am I just seeing people from those 3 other realms or is a much broader spectrum?

I dunno-- I prefer lower populated servers which is Why I’m on an low/med Pop servers.

Most of the players you’re seeing are from CRZ, if you’re on a PvE realm. :rainbow:

I have heard this, but i would love to see where they are getting these stats from. I understand maybe not desiring a high pop realm, but medium would have to be the compromise. Low pop is really not fun for the majority.
I am sure there are the minor few who do enjoy it, but yeah. Medium pop would satisfy that perfectly fine.

I really hope this doesn’t get swept under the rug.

Blizz could just populate the low pop servers with lifelike player bots. Nobody would be able to tell the difference

We don’t know if Blizzard has an alternative solution in the works. With Sharding, I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually go regional instead of having “realms” at all. It’s closer and closer to this tech every day.

The only limitations being shared chat channels like general and trade.

This is true. I’d be curious

My server is really badly controlled by AH players/merchanters.

We ruin any server we merge with.

I don’t know why they don’t just start closing down the more low pop servers and give the players who play there free transfers to other servers.

Oh right. Cus Activision doesn’t care bout anything but their bottom line.

My very dead server is already merged with another. It’s still dead. Literally impossible to get anything done at all there. It’s bad enough that things that are usually spammed as soon as they pop on normal servers. (nalak/Sha/Galleon just as examples) stay up 24/7
And things like the world dragons…lol No. Impossible unless you have a friend invite you to their server.

That’s why the concept of Connected Realms exists. You’re connected to and are essentially part of the aervice server as another, but the realm name stays and so do your names and guild names. They also only connected realms with the same server type and similar economies and communities. It works well. We just need some more.
