How badly am i screwing myself (in world pvp) by making an Undead Lock? Im mainly looking to do world pvp on era but not sure if this is a really dumb idea compared to Orc.
Any Orc Locks out there can comment on if the stun resist is worth it? Any undead locks wish you had gone Orc? Is it really that big of a deal, from your own anecdotal experience?
The stun resist from orcs is amazing. But if you have the proper PVP spec, you have soul link. You won’t die in a stun anyway. You will be immune to fear and charm. It’s a trade-off.
That’s the most montage, friendly, PVP spec and it’s all a lot of fun! You’re gonna have to get crafty, depending upon who you’re facing. Picture yourself like a fire mage was more control and less defenses. Use nets, trinkets, consumables and you’re gonna have a blast and look way better doing then the slouchy orc…
Wpvp is less dictated by the paper math than the element of surprise and strategy.
Do you think Orc Locks look that bad in cloth? I think they’re pretty good looking, especially in the tier sets. I could always use Noggenfogger if it came down to it.
Take it from somebody who made a pen and paper choice versus a preference choice with race and aesthetics. (Drawf priest) I was addicted to noggenfoggers. It sucks.
wlock has been my dedicated main that ive chosen to study since 2019 mulling over everything in detail. heres the scoop. the TLDR up front is that the consensus is that undead is BIS for premades and duels, while orc is for wpvp and pug RBGs. if you dig around youll see it too, from higher end wlocks.
well i for one really enjoy the undead wlock v rogue matchup and i do not play soul link. the way i see it, is that the matchup is so hard that the fight is basically being centered around you having a LAP anyway incase youre an orc and RNG is coming for you. you will also need a skull of impending doom, and either a grenade or a sapper. this matchup has actually been stimulating and challenging for me to get better as a player and i think if i was orc the story would be more dull. smolderwebs eye, gnomish net-o-matic. even like level 30ish worldpvp you can beat rogues if you keybind petstay and position your succubus away from you to cc the rogue during his opener, ive done it plenty. dont forget voidwalkers AoE taunt can break rogues out of stealth too.
i have never wished to be an orc. i farm consumes and items to make up for what my char/racials lack and so should everyone.
Racials don’t matter against the majority of players if your good. In TBC arena you had players like PShero who got rank 1 with a rogue night elf, which was considered a “meme”.
Honesty if you are asking this question, you probably aren’t at a level of pvp where racials make all the difference.
This. When i leveled my rogue in OG vanilla and 2019 classic, i straight up avoided opening on Orc Locks. I didnt mess with them. A missed Kidney is pretty much GG against a good Warlock, and 30% resist chance is usually too big of a gamble.
UD Locks are a lot safer to target, as an alliance Rogue.
Locks cannot trinket stuns in vanilla, but they can trinket Fears (along with being able to Devour Fears with fel pup).
1v1 duels? Orc Lock everytime. You dont need WOTF to beat Priests as a Lock, and you can PvP trinket or devour Fear vs. other Locks. But stun resist helps against Rogues, Warriors, Ferals, Hunters, Spriests, Fire Mages, and anyone with Engineering (which is usually everyone in pvp).
As a Rogue, we stun more often, and it really throws a spanner in the works when they are Orc. Sure, RNG could end up being on your side… but you end up playing different to anticipate it anyway, because a stun resist on Kidney or a Vanish > Cheap reopener is so damning. So while its onlt 30%, it effects the way we play against Orcs 100% of the time.
