So I recently rolled an Undead monk to level with a friend that just got back into WoW.
At the time I hadnt put much thought into the character but after playing around with the specs I think RPing him as an Apothecary makes sense.
I think this is really thematically appropriate for MW and BM but admitably I’m having trouble figuring out what concoction would explain WW outside some hitherto unknown karate elixir.
i wanted to play a monk until i realized that the tank spec was designed around alcohol.
now i am not a creep when it comes to alcohol, but the entire MOP expansion turned me off with the constant drunk pandas. even now we are forced into an alcoholic class.
I know the dwarves also enjoy their booze, but you arent forced into that stereotype if you dont want to be.
So yes, i agree, they should change the tank spec to be something other than a drunk
I figured I could just RP that as potions. As a general concept though its based off the Shaolin Drunken Boxing style. The IRL monks arent actually drunk when doing it but as a tanking style its unique enough.

i had heard it was based on that, however, it still irritates me for some reason.
I honestly dont know why. it bothered me so much i quit MOP pretty much right away.
meh, i dont know
Apothecary is one of those vocations that doesn’t really tie to any specific player class, at least to me. That is to say one could rp as one on any class so long as they dress the part. On a slightly unrelated note I feel the same way about Lorewalkers.
I suppose if you want to make a connection going with the spec with the most drinkables, which I think is Brewmaster, would likely work; perhaps further buff that with Alchemy.
Pandaren brewing in general is pretty similar to that of a Forsaken Apothecary, I’d imagine; at least in that both involve making beverages that yield a variety of usually supernatural effects.
I can’t help but view this in particular as hyperbolic.
