Undead Hunters, how do you explain yourself?

Lore-wise how do you justify your existence in WoW? I’m simply curious, and hopefully the answer might help me to figure out if I should go Worgen Hunter or not.

Same justification as human hunters.

They were hunters before they died, they remained hunters after they were raised. What’s the issue.

We are the natural state of a hunter!

There’s this obscure character in lore that was an archer who got killed and raised as undead. She’s called Syrana Windranger or something.

Every race may learn the value of Gun. Or… Bow. Crossbow.
Make the pew-pew death from faraway.

As for pets/nature connection as a corpsey lad… well, it’s probably easier to make friends with animals than people when you’re a shambling mess, and the random bear/wolf/spider isn’t going to judge you for your limited edition autographed Sylvanas Windrunner bodypillow that’s never been washed.
You know who you are.

but wouldn’t being an unnatural abomination to the natural world kind of make it difficult to befriend beasts?

Considering the natural order for the beasts of Azeroth is getting slaughtered by the thousands by random adventurers sent by a posh dwarven man on a mission to make all animal life in the world extinct…

…The beasts of Azeroth will take any companionship they can get.

Most undead have undead pets and spiders as pets. Also what’s strange about animals hanging around dead people, the local cats spend time on the porch with my grandma and she’s been gone a few months.

Undead Hunters are so good they have feign death up all the time.

Beast taming gone horribly wrong.

I would say generally only invertebrate pets or those pets that are undead themselves would be totally canon for undead hunters.

The rare exception would be that Deadyface’s bond with Fluffy was just so strong when he was alive that Fluffy doesn’t care that every sense he has is telling him that what he’s smelling is wrong, wrong, wrong.

I upvoted before I read the whole thing. I also don’t remove my hearts once I give them out. It’s a Horde code of honour thing.

I also clicked on you because I love that top and wondered if you finally found legs to go with it and I was mildly disappointed.

Not your fault though. Nothing goes with that top.

Making Forsaken players wish they could be hunters since 2004

anyone can learn to use a bow/gun/crossbow.

pets are mostly a gameplay thing tbh.

Even the Forsaken have some who ‘need’ everything.

No justification is necessary for why/how they do it, It’s the same as any other physical class.
What does need an explanation though is why their pet dogs don’t just run off with their bones and bury them.

For me it’s a background I created. My hunter died taking on a bear. As fate would have it the bear succumbed to infection and past as well. In death we were bound due to that tragic incident that cost us both. In life we were hunter and prey but in death we are companions finding peace within each other.

I got a Forsaken survival hunter in the works, but all his pets are undead, rotting plague ridden looking beasts, spiders, vulture, etc. I find it rather fitting. using a darkhound with him right now.

I’m a massive Nathanos stan, and my cosplay is on point.

That’s how I justify it.
