blizzard has never said they were placeholders and they have never been treated as such. Blizzards entire reasoning for not implementing them has absolutely nothing to do with authenticity or the reason that Fezs has been trumpeting for weeks.
They aren’t being put into the game because they don’t want people to rush through leveling or feel like they have to rush through leveling. Hopefully we can change blizzards mind on this and have these beautiful assets which were a part of vanilla added to the museum that is classic wow.
I said you cannot discuss something like an adult. But anyway, show me where players can get those same unarmored mounts in 8.x if they didn’t have them before they were removed?
They can’t get them anymore unless of course you are talking about the NEW unarmored mounts (obviously placeholders) that they have added to the game in recent times.
I was of course referring to the plethora of alliance Calvary men in the Arathi war front whom are riding on mounts that haven’t been available for purchase in 14 years.
Oh and also people were selling these mounts until Wrath or even Cataclysm by placing them in gift wrapping before they were made BoP. So no… there are tons of people who bought them after they were “unobtainable”. Similarly to how many of the people with Naxx items in retail got them at the end of TBC and not actually in vanilla.
Class representation mounts? And the unarmored mounts they have added were literally the old models so idk what you are talking about. The swift Zulian panther is an old cat.
What is your point? Because there are other unarmored mounts blizzard didn’t clearly want the ones obtained in vanilla out of the game, hence why they outright removed them, and now are keeping them out of the new classic? You are trying to somehow outlogic something that is a philosophical choice which blizzard has made.
They sure have gone through a lot of trouble to keep them from coming back. Almost like they don’t want them in the game
Ok so why did they allow people to keep them? Why do some people still have them? Surely if your stance were so, Blizzard could remove these mounts from the few remaining players with ease. They didn’t. Why?
Because for the most part they don’t take things away from players. They offered the least tumultuous solution, which was to tempt people to trade for the new mounts without forcing it, and remove the source. They have removed sources for tons of things in the game, but if people had them before the source was removed they keep them. This stands in line with that process.
Blizzard removing those mounts was one of the first mistakes in a long line of many, which lead to a culture of removing content from their game and giving celebrity status to players who have items that are unobtainable.
Now the game is all about rushing through the last raid tier so you can get the AOTC achievement for the last raid of an expansion and get the “i did the thing” mount that will be removed.
If you support or supported the removal of these mounts you are contributing to the line of thinking that lead us to cataclysm… to deadmines and scarlet monastery… to SFK and ST…everything being removed and replaced with something that isn’t as good as what was there before.
The opposite can be said too though, they’ve also removed a lot of things after the sources have been used, especially in professions.
No that option would have been to remove them completely, from everyone, from everywhere. They didn’t and therefore people can and do still enjoy them in 8.x . It cannot be accurate to say therefore that they’re not Classic. They’ve endured for over a decade in that form.
I would go to say that the way they handled it was the worst solution possible, man how crappy those players that traded those prestigeous mounts in must feel after the unnannounced removal for a measly 1000g.
The mounts were in vanilla, blizzard’s current stance is flawed 6 months is plenty of time for anyone that plays day one. By their reasoning, the black AQ mount shouldn’t be implemented as an exclusive reward that will make some players play differently.
I’ll tell you what 6 months I won’t be investing in, that 6 month subscription bait for that new cash mount.
They do make good points though. If they did it for a small window, people would feel rushed. If they did it for a large window, everyone would have one just because they essentially don’t exist in current WoW.
The only way to make it effective is to wait until everyone has a level 60 to start some kind of event, but that would be a change, which runs contrary to the idea of classic.
