I think what the community needs to acknowledge is the position we put put Blizzard Classic Team in when we make demands on topics such as this. There is no situation here where Blizzard doesn’t lose. 80% of the player base doesn’t care in the slightest. I do not care, but I know players who do, greatly. The people who only want the prestige of the original epic mounts will likely overlap heavily with that player base looking to race to 60 anyway. So, there really isn’t any winning here, for Blizz, when catering to these folks.
Also note, at no point is any option available to Blizzard going to be Vanilla-like. The reason why the mounts had prestige is due to them being pulled. No one knew it was going to happen. The fact that everyone does, means the experience is inherently unoriginal in regards to these mounts.
I think Blizzard will cause the most net approval, among the player base, by simply adding the original mount variants to the mount vendors and having them available during the entire run of Classic. It’s a trivial fix. The item #s exist in the 1.12 client. I’m sure they do for 1.13 as well. Most players won’t care about this, and most that do, will be pleased. Those that would be upset will be racing to 60 anyway, for other reasons, and have many other available prestige items that do not result in many more players racing through the content that would otherwise pace themselves.
