Hello friends,
Do you think that the dev decision to remove unarmored mounts from Classic sets a precedent that predicts the removal of Realm-First leveling achievements in the future WOTLK classic?
Obviously these achievements were discontinued in retail wow, and when they were discussing unarmored mounts in the interview they said they don’t want players to feel compelled to rush. It seems like they really dislike the idea of speed-levelers.
Curious what your thoughts are on the subject because this was always one of my favorite things to strive for. I take it easy on the second and third characters I level and fully experience the content, but the process of master-planning and no-lifing for an extended period is very satisfying.

Vendor Loot as part of the pre-1.10 itemization didn’t have the mounts at that point.
So its still according to plan.
That wasn’t the rationale they put forth when discussing the issue with Tipsout.
They said they didn’t want players to feel compelled to rush.
Pure laziness… thinking their SH** doesn’t stink. Blizzard is too vain to admit people actually prefer the original mounts they made over the cookie cutter armored ones they forced down our throats. Blizzard was setting a precedent in Vanilla that they have followed through with even today. Remember the SICK HD versions of SM and Deadmines they gave us???

Specific developer’s comments don’t always line up though. They’re accurate about what is but all have different takes on why.
But do you see the similarities between their comments and similar comments when Realm-First achievements were discontinued?
I think given the nearly identical rationale, assuming the dev was mistaken as to the basis of this latest decision is quite a leap of faith.
This is BFA levels of nonesense we want the mounts stop dictating how we play the game blizzard

This. I’m all for enjoying the leveling experience, but that should be up to the player. Coincidentally the most fun I’ve had while leveling was when I tried to hit all the IF quests for rep to buy the mount.

not letting us obtain these original mounts that defined the vanilla wow experience is wrong on so many levels and against all logic. sad when private realms manage to give a more authentic experience than blizzard??

Such a simple fix just add the mounts to the vendor and dont remove them.

Not letting us obtain the classic original mounts in “classic” is a sick joke.

Why are people talking about streamers instead of this?

The problem is players are already going to rush with or without it. Therefore, Blizzard’s argument is already invalidated.
The real issue is they don’t want to have to deal with the players compliants when it would be removed.

yeah…but they chose to rush.
Having something removed after an arbitrary point FORCES you to rush if you want it.

So what? It should be up to the player to decide what’s valuable to them inside the game and how they want to play it. No one is “FORCING” you to rush to 60 to get and OG Epic mount. If you are rushing to get one that means you find great value in that mount. Having a limited item for some players is priceless and well worth the initial hustle.
Removing that option is getting rid of player agency, it’s Blizzard telling you how they want you to play the game and also a weak attempt into not hurting everyone’s feelings by being more inclusive. This is the same philosophy shift that gave us the current version of WoW. Let the players choose how they want to play the game and let the hardcore players shine from the casuals.
How are you forced? Is it required to level? Is it required for raiding, pvp, dungeons, etc? No.
You are NOT forced. That’s YOUR mindset. YOU are forcing yourself to do it. Having something removed actually does nothing. That’s a fact. And you proved my point. You’d sit wailing about how wrong Blizzard was for removing it. Hell, I may have never gotten it, but the chance was there. My personal choice to rush and save up or not. The whole idea you’re forced is so silly and it’s part of the problem from the entitlement found within many players. It boils down to feeling entitled to it and we’ve always only been entitled to playing the game.
If I want realm first kills I’m “forced” to rush to 60. Should I complain to Blizzard? No. Silly argument for not having these mounts.
ya this is really unfortunate I could totally see them coming out with WOTLK realms and removing all the realm first achievements. the slippery slope is real.
It’s an optional mount, no one is forcing anyone. And given the estimated age of classic players, aren’t we old enough to decide for ourselves?

seriously the amount of disrespect on this decision is off the charts and a slap in the face.
