Unacceptable Battlenet Download Speeds

For the longest time, my Battlenet speeds are trickling through between 0kb/s to 20kb/s.

  1. I’m uncapped with my provider.
  2. Moved house (same speed at 2 different suburbs)
  3. Speed test (I’m running a YouTube vid and downloading WoW) and the speed test said 53MB/s.
  4. I even changed PC’s and download speed is the same though Battlenet. Both PC’s had no trouble downloading software, music, videos etc.
  5. Xbox Series X has no trouble with downloads and consistently does around 30mb/s on the SAME network.

Can someone let me know what should be in the boxes or even if I have them checked.

(Currently) - On Google’s recommendation -
Download Limits:
Latest Updates is checked and at 20kb/s
Pre-release content is checked is left at 1kb/s

Should I just uncheck these? Should I leave them checked and put a higher value in? I’ve tried both extremes but it doesn’t change the download speed at all.

Is there a port or something I should open to get extra bandwidth. Seems silly to find an outside solution like that.

Last piece of information is that I’m in Oceania. I genuinely feel this is on Blizzard’s side. Because this is a new PC, Battlenet was recently installed too.

I’m really at a loss.

At 21.30kb/s… downloading 102GB’s will take several weeks. This is insane.

Check your task manager for hdd/ssd and cpu activity. It’s probably in that phase where it’s encrypting or verifying stuff.

Here’s an example from a similar thread a while back(I used an OW2 update for the example, but it does the same stuff for WoW as well):

See how yours says 18MB/s, mine’s doing 18Kb/s. Kilobytes. I would be so happy to have a constant 18MB’s. Like yours wouldn’t even be a problem to me.

My processes are no where near as spiking as yours.

I went and restored the default settings and it’s a little better and holding at 6MB/s. If it holds it at this, I’ll take it. I’m at 66%… /sigh

Those should be unchecked. You’re getting exactly what your settings are dictating.

You have limited download of pre release to 20kb/s, which is what you’re getting.

I figured it was one of the other and I did actually have them unchecked at some point but got the same slow speeds. I tried everything haha.

It did eventually hold at the 6-7 MB mark which I was happy to take as a win.

They absolutely will be from now on. I’ll mark it as ‘solved’ for now. See what next big maintenance download does :slight_smile:
