I got it to work by keeping bnet open stuck on initializing and then running wow.exe from file explorer. Instantly unstuck and is now playable.

Finally got the game to update and run, did this then restarted my pc and it finally went thru

This just worked for me and the battle.net was immediately unstuck! I could get on! Thank you!

I have the same problem stuck at initializing, I stopped the update and updated the beta client without an issue so it’s only retail wow

I’m Having exactly the same problem.

Same problem here. I tried rebooting and uninstalling the game all together. No luck. I went as far as uninstalling battlenet all together and trying to clean up all my old files before re-installing.
Didnt fix anything. DANG IT! i wanted to play some this evening

This worked for me. WoW came up almost instantly. I’d strongly suggest trying this step. Make sure you are running WoW.exe and not the default WoW shortcut on the desktop.

This looks like it works but it doesn’t really. The launcher sees wow running and changes the status of the button to play, but as soon as it cans it tries again to update and gets stuck again

yes it finally stopped initializing changing to reclaiming space and then it was done, so fake update?

no go play game then logout and see if it goes back to initializing when u logout and then go to hit play again. it had to download quite a bit

maybe it was updating but just not showing that it was working and at some point it just finished.
