Unable to turn off War Mode

Can you reset the server? Or is that action only called for when it disrupts Horde gameplay?

I’ve been trying to turn off War Mode for 15 minutes. When I try, it doesn’t work while being in Arom’s Stand, whether inside the inn or near the FP.

You need to return to Stormwind to disable (or enable) war mode.

That was changed with latest patch.

War Mode can now be disabled in any rested area. It can still only be enabled in Stormwind or Orgrimmar.

if its not working in the inn, i’d try another one, or going back to a major town. just about every shard has intense pvp at arom’s strand at the moment, i’d assume that is related to being unable to turn it off, being in combat too quickly or some such.

on a side note - in chat right now on horde side there is almost identical complaining about how badly blizzard favors the alliance. just something to think about.

Jorn, here are a few additional suggestions:

  • Play an alt, go read a book, do something else for a while
  • Call and wait for Alliance assistance
  • Resurrect in a hidden corner and bubblehearth

  • Nobody should be forced onto another character with no chance to fight back.
  • Please review screenshot. Noone is going to be able to swoop in unless two raid groups were formed to combat Horde.
  • The worst move Blizzard could’ve ever done was make our bubble dispellable.
  • They reset the servers when Alliance was raiding Zul’dazar a little while back, there’s no reason why they cannot do the same now outside of favoritism.

Have you tried going to Stormwind to see if you can turn it off there?

Jorn, please understand that war mode provides for a particular playstyle. You’re agitating for the removal of forced world PvP from the game; fortunately, that option is available.

There’s no shame in avoiding world PvP; most of my own friends prefer a less aggressive play environment.

Cheers.

Nobody is agitating for the removal of forced WPVP in this thread. My point is that trying to turn off war mode in a rested area wasn’t working, and because it wasn’t working, a server reset should’ve been done. Had that happened on the Horde, they would’ve made sure to reset the server and ruin the Alliance group(s). It was interrupting Alliance gameplay, whether at that time players were purposely in Arom’s Stand to be nuked by two raids full of horde players, or not. I’d expect that most would say that it’s not fun to be nuked by two raid groups.

So… every encounter needs to be 1:1, 2:2, 10:10 and so on between groups of people with equivalent gearing?

People aren’t allowed to form PvP raids anymore?

Probably a better discussion for the PvP forums.

I was in a raid a little while ago demolishing Naz’mir. I’m not familiar with this reset you’re referring to, but Naz’mir escaped reset. We ran around for nearly an hour before attacking the Horde capital.

Most of the discussion points seemed to be related more to world PvP than this bug. I agree that this bug should be fixed. Fortunately, the thread has been moved to the Bug Report forum, and I hope the developers may soon resolve the issue.

Cheers.

They were specific to this thread. Your reply was a stupid attempt at being politically correct.

Howso?

This is the first time someone’s accused my desire for world PvP as being politically correct.

I couldn’t care less about your desire for World PvP. The thread was about being unable turn war mode off in a rested area, and writing back explaining that suggestions people had given weren’t working. Stop thinking everything is about you.

I understand the thread was about war mode. Those suggestions were made in an attempt to help you escape your situation.

I’m not sure how this means the thread is about me, however you did reply and that indicated that you were interested in continuing that discussion. That said, I understand now you’re uninterested in any immediate resolution and will leave this conversation.

Cheers.

Theoretically, the rested area in the inn* should be enough, but I’m pretty sure if you’re dragged into combat too soon after you rez it won’t work. So the suggestion to wait out the PvP raid or go someone else (down the hill to the Watchman’s Rise, for instance) is sound, and probably the easiest way out.

Bottom line: you don’t quit PvP when you want to. You quit PvP when your opponent lets you, typically by not pursuing you any further. Remember that before you turn Warmode back on.

*Isn’t this just some dude’s house? One of the more trivial weird things about Drustvar.

I pay $15 a month. Systems should be in place so that I can quit PvP when I want to. Thanks.

That’s just absurd, and I hope you are ashamed for saying it out loud.

“Quit PvP when I want to” is “gosh, this fight isn’t going my way, I’ll ditch out and try again later.” Every PvPer who’s losing at the moment would love this. And it’s entirely contrary to PvP, with some rare and reversible exceptions. (Like a rogue popping vanish, but they still haven’t escaped. They may still be discovered by a hunter Flare, or a well-place AoE.)

This is PvP. You volunteered for PvP. Working as designed.

You paid $15 a month to play the game exactly the way it is. “The customer is always right” is probably the stupidest consumer mantra ever.

And since it’s been amply demonstrated that the behavior you’re whining about is both intentional and behaving exactly as intended, Bug Reports isn’t the venue for you. “NOTABUG Working As Designed” is what QA will say, and your complaints are in Ignore-ville.

The correct forum for suggestions to alter design decision you don’t agree with is General Discussion. The developers will have a chance to hear your suggestion and decide if your arguments carry sufficient merit to persuade them to alter their design. Of course, every other forum reader in the Oceanic and North America WoW population will also have a chance to hear your suggestion, and to weigh in with their own opinions about it. And they’ll be less polite than we have been here.

You must be a retail employee. Having different opinions really seem to fluster you. PvPing as one person against one or two entire raid groups doesn’t work. I should have the option to phase out at the point it is no longer competitive, and just becomes a camp involving an entire raid group, or more.
