level 70 boosted character, I bought shadowlands and everything way back in the day but just never played it due to sub running out and some life stuff. Now I really want a mog from shadowlands content, but I have no way of getting to oribos or starting ANY SL stuff. Portal won’t let me through, obviously can’t do timewalking either. Am I missing something or do I have to level a whole brand new toon to do this stuff?
If you can’t see Darian Morgrain to pick up the starter quest, then characters without access to Chromie Time can use Party Sync with someone who is in the right phase for them to get access. (In Stormwind he’s on the steps in front of Stormwind Keep, and in Orgirmmar he’s in front of Grommash Hold.)
have you tried turning trivial quests on, under the quest log mini map?
quick google:
To start playing World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, follow these steps:
- Reach level 50 with your character.
- Complete the Battle for Azeroth introduction and earn the Welcome to Zandalar (Horde) / Come Sail Away (Alliance) achievement.
- Your character must be at least level 10 to start the Shadowlands quests.
- Find High Inquisitor Whitemane in your faction’s capital city and accept the quest Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons
This is why I don’t just tell people to google stuff. That google answer is a mess. (It gives two minimum levels!)
So just to clarify some things. You can access the Shadowlands starter quest through Chromie Time between levels 10 and 60. The quest usually will show up between levels 50 and 60 even without Chromie Time.
The BfA intro can mess with the phasing if you haven’t done it, but that usually doesn’t fix it for level 61+ characters, where party sync is the most reliable option.
Finally, the quest is given by Darion Morgrain. Alliance can then talk to Whitemane to get ported to Icecrown to start the into or choose the Maw skip option if unlocked. Horde talk to Nazgrim.
Id have to wait till i got home ro see but i dont remember shadowlands being on that list for chromie. And if the secondary requirement for bfa achiev is right that would be why
You are not the only one with this issue. After raising a ticket, the GM suggested completing the Legion quest first. However, after completing every quest on the Warboard (as you only get a choice of 3 zones, & there’s no tab/page function), bar the Tanaris one which I couldn’t accept for some reason, no Legion quest.
I raised a bug report, but it looks like, unless it is fixed/added to the warboard, the party-synch is the only option.
Great job Blizzard…you basically locked out an entire expansion! I have a boosted 80 and have tried to go do Shadowlands. I took the portal to Oribos but there is no flight path or quests. Went back to Org and started the campaign for shadowlands. Looks like there was supposed to be a deathgate. There wasn’t. However the NPC next to the quest giver started sparkling. I clicked on him and it ported me to Oribos. Again, no FP, no quests. I went back to Org and now the quest giver is no longer there (should have ported me to the top of Icecrown to complete the next part of the Campaign). Now I’m stuck on the campaign quest with no way to get to Icecrown and no way to unlock the FP in Oribos which just locked my toon out of ALL of Shadowland expansion. I mean, it’s a brilliant design by Blizzard for sure to make it this complicated and broken to play a past expansion. Bravo!
I’m stuck as well. I chose the skip Maw intro option for Alliance, ended up at Oribos but I’m not getting any quests past that. The guards are there but nobody comes to meet me and do the Oribos intro. I can’t teleport to the top level as a result so Shadowlands is cut off to my Alt currently.
I started the quest for shadowlands and i hit the skip intro Oribus awaits. When I got to Oribus no quests. I have done shadowlands on my main so I can still go there on this toon but not any alt that never did it. I found a work around in another thread. If you go to the timeways there are ports to shadowlands. I went to the Bastion port and went through when I arived I went to the flightmaster and I could go to any of the flight paths I had unlocke on my main. So if you just want to run stuff in shadowlands and see the world but not run quests this can work for you. I still have no quests but I can go to the places I would like to visit for transmog or mounts. Hope this helps.
there should be a fix for this I have this unlocked on other characters, but it shouldnt be so difficult to get all the flitepaths and the skips, I cant even get to the Maw or ZM, and this is with a fresh 80 I leveled in remix. Blizzard needs to fix this
Same thing happed to me and my son. I have transmogs I cant use on my Rogue because I am not in the Venthyr. kind of BS its been going on this long
Yes, this is also a problem for any new character created. Shadowlands quest line is unavailable. Using the portal there yields no quests. All flight points are locked due to being unable to start the quest line. This is massively bugged.
This is a WoW Pandaria Remix character, by default I had to complete the Calia quest line firsrt for some reason as it was the only thing showing up in Valley of Strength. After that, nothing. So I went to the board and it showed no shadow lands. I had to go Legion to be able to use Dalaran stone because the one I had was one single use. Anyway, I wanted to do shadowland to be able to tame undead pets. Now my hunter cant? As it looks like the book is bind on pickup. So how am I suppose to tame undead if Im locked out of going to Maldraxisis? I went to Orbos and tried to go to the flight master, guess what, Its invisible to me lol. Great… This needs fixed as its preventing people from taming a type of pet. Please fix this.
Okay this worked for me, so I did not have the War within questline yet so when I went inside Grommash hold where Rokham is standing it gave it to me. So I went to Silithus, click the “already heard this story” option and when I went back to Org, Darion is standing there. So for anyone else, you MUST finish the intro quest to War Within before Darion will spawn to give you the Shadowlands quest. Really confusing way to get it to appear. Hope that helps some people regardless though.
Just tried starting Shadowlands Chromie time on a new DK (I swear, new DKs are cursed! The last new DK I started, I went through Dragonflight - which went okay - then got to TWW and got hit with a chat glitch and a cutscene-on-login glitch that I could find no solution to either of, so I threw in the towel and started over, lol).
The intro worked completely without a hitch till I hit Oribos, then I decided to do the threads of fate (MSQ skip) method as I’ve done before on characters during Shadowlands itself.
I get asked to pick my Covenant and do so. No problems.
Then … welp. Everything seems to function alright but … the only quests that were available at all were the scouting map zone intro ones, and the WQs.
Edit: Findings:
- You can do the SL intro at level 10, and dungeons are available in the Dungeon Finder from this level
- WQs are also immediately available if you select threads of fate, BUT any gear rewards are Ilvl 148 Required level 60 (they do unlock Xmog appearances immediately upon acquisition however)
- You seem to need to be level 15 to accept any other quests. This is not indicated anywhere whatsoever, the quests simply start showing up when you reach this level.
Kinda clunky honestly.
I was able to confirm, you need to use the scroll, and turn in the first quest for The War Within. After you pick up “A Poor Reception” you can just go back to Org and the shadowlands quest will be available. No need to complete the entire quest chain, but just turn in the first quest and it will be available.
Thank you. I reactivated my 2nd account, created/used a low level alt (who was able to pick up the quest). I can’t recall which char had to create the party - when I used it for a random person who had the issue we had to reform & do it the other way around - but they were then able to use Party Synch to pick up the quest.
